Doodling in biology to becoming a business owner.
In search of something to spend time on the summer before moving to college, I picked up a brush lettering pen. Soon I found myself writing out random words constantly as a sort of meditation, they weren't pretty, but it was fun. First semester of college landed me in an Intro Biology course that bored me out of my mind and lasted an hour and a half twice a week, and that is when my practice took off. I spent the whole time lettering with ballpoint pens instead of taking notes (oops). I made cards for friends and family and began getting really good reactions from others. I heard the "omg you could totally sell this" line and took it seriously. In September of 2019, as I was going into my Junior year of college, I launched MADE BY HER ATX with literally no idea what I was doing. Since then, I have learned so much and found immense joy and freedom in sharing my art with others. Every time I receive an order from some far off state, my heart flutters, knowing that pieces of me are slowing scattering across the country and becoming pieces of your home. Since beginning my business, I have expanded into watercolor painting, digital artwork, and illustration. Who knows what will come next? As a girl in my early 20s, I am growing + evolving constantly, and I always want my art to reflect that. I'd love to have you on the journey! I hope you can find something that brings you joy, too. Always feel free to shoot me a message about customizing something to your needs, any questions/concerns, or just to say hey! Be sure to follow me on Instagram @madebyheratx for daily updates!
