About

My Linen Love Affair....(liaison amoureuse)

My love of vintage linens started when I decided to take an interior design course several years ago. One of the class assignments was to spend time in an antique shop. We were instructed to become familiar with the items, the owners the customers. We were to pick one item that we fell in love with and we were to learn all we could about it. ie; It's history, it's story; its origin! Once we obtained that information we were to share our newly acquired knowledge with the class. For me, it was all about the linens. They caught my eye and were the items that spoke to me. I fell for the beautiful artistry. The scrumptious textures, the incredible embroidered workmanship the detailing...Yes I was soon in love with the linens. I could imagine all the time, attention and care that someone long ago put into this one piece and here I stood many years later literally touching the past. It gave me a true appreciation of this hand created masterpiece and I decided I would love to subtly display these linens in my home. Letting them just add a kiss of old world charm to my eclectic decor.

I began to research and attend high end European and Textile auctions as well as attending many estate sales in many historic regions of New England. I am happy to pass my savings on to my consumer and be able to offer vintage linens at vintage prices. I want to share my love of linens with my customer. And thus my Etsy shop was born Maison de Linge (Linge de Maison).....

Merci!
