Insect specimens are low maintenance! Keep them out of humid areas like bathrooms and basements without dehumidifiers to prevent mold growth. Keeping bugs in direct sunlight will fade them up to 50% within one year, they prefer the dark to stay nice and vibrant.

Be cautious keeping untreated antiques near your insects, as book lice, carpet beetles, mites, etc can devastate your collection within a few days. Take a peek at your specimens every so often, if anything is falling apart or there is lots of "dust" popping up in the display, pop the entire display in the freezer for a week to kill all eggs, larvae, or adult pests.

Sustainability means something different to everyone who uses the term! Sustainable ≠ ethical and many folks in the community use the term "sustainable" instead. Sustainability mitigates harm to threatened species and habitats whereas ethicality is a moral argument that many will disagree on. As an animal lover, I do not support animal cruelty in any way and buy specimens accordingly!

All insect specimens are from researched and vetted captive breeders, licensed importers, and conservatory insect farms! All are legally obtained and hence monitored. I do not work with endangered wild-caught specimens, buy in excessive bulk, or support importers with trafficking charges.

Bones are sourced responsibly as well. All of them are sustainable hunting byproducts, roadkill, foraged, small-scale farm animals, or population control byproducts that would otherwise go to waste. I do not buy bulk bones from overseas fur farms, use bird parts/products in violation of the MBTA, or work with heavily poached animals, i.e. bats and lizards, frogs, snakes, etc that are not from captive breeders in the USA.
