This is a beautifully crafted bracelet, so happy I purchased it. Shipped promptly and arrived early! Nice to have something made in America by a talented artist.

Oh, my! I received my ginkgo earrings today and I am in love! They are beautiful and substantial in weight but comfy to wear. I could not be more pleased and plan to purchase additional items from Mary! The beautiful packaging (box with botanical tissue paper and a moss green ribbon) added to my pleasure. These are my new go-to daily earring choice!

About

Nature, always in style.

New England Artist Mary Cappy’s Botanical Jewelry isn’t inspired by nature, it is nature. Each piece is Handmade from actual botanicals gathered from her own gardens and collected on wildflower walks, through the woods and meadows nearby, and in her travels. An avid gardener, she combines her love of nature, art and horticulture in an extensive collection of botanical jewelry that elegantly captures the delicate structures of nature.

“I design and create Sterling Silver Botanical Jewelry using plants from my flower, herb and vegetable gardens. The pleasure, for me, is in careful observation and creative ingenuity.”

Mary studied silversmithing and photography at Rhode Island School of Design and the School of Visual Arts. She earned her BA in Art History in 1994, graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and a BA in French in 1997 while studying at the Sorbonne in Paris.

She uses the ancient art of lost wax casting to make a sterling silver version of the real thing. A mold is made of the leaf or twig and then the mold is filled with wax. That wax is put into a plaster-like investment and heated so that the wax melts and burns out. Then the mold is then filled with molten silver (1750 degrees). After many polishing steps, the pieces are handcrafted into bracelets, earrings, necklaces, rings and pendants; many with gems and pearls. Although she learned many silversmithing techniques as part of her formal education, this technique is self taught. Each piece is handcrafted using responsibly sourced metals.
