I have 8/2 West Texas Organic Cotton for sale. BUT - before all that I feel compelled to tell the story of this yarn. My son and his family live in Lubbock,Texas. When we first visited them I was struck by the cotton fields and how they contrast with the color of the intense blue sky. Then there is the dirt-the color of that dirt intrigues me each and every time we come and go. It falls somewhere between sienna and adobe and rust. I have tried to reproduce the colors of that sky and that dirt in my weaving but never quite capture it. Back to the cotton-my son explained to me about "dry farming" --dependent on rain. No sprinklers, no irrigation-just wait until it falls from the sky!! These people have "faith"! In my naiveté I was sure they must sell West Texas cotton yarn in WEST TEXAS. Each time I visited I would make calls and ask people "where do they sell the cotton yarn."
After reading about some cotton farmers in West Texas going against the grain and growing ORGANIC cotton, I was determined to find a source. On one visit I FINALLY made the RIGHT call and with that one connection I found the organic cotton/with the same help I found a spinning mill/from there I found a plyer. IT took many trips to Lubbock/many phone calls/sampling/and more sampling to bring this yarn to fruition. I am proud and excited to offer this cotton.
