This is so pretty! So well-fitting! I can't wait to see what all's in my closet that I can wear it out with. Not to mention, the seller was a doll, and turnaround time was surprisingly quick. Thank you so much!

I was so worried this might be a bit small for me, but ordered anyway because it just looked so great. It. Is. Perfect. It's so comfortable, fits great, and I feel so amazing in it. So, so satisfied.

I hate being put on the spot...

I make whatever happens to pop into my head. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad, sometimes it's really bad.

I used to tell people that I would not ever consider myself an artist; I always pictured an artist as someone who was quite flighty, and was prone to periods of alternating between almost zen-like highs and drama queen-esque lows. I insisted I was not this type of person; rather I was a "designer." You see a "designer" does not neglect personal hygiene for the sake of their art; no, their hair is always brushed and sweatpants are reserved solely for days when fluids are being ejected out of their bodies involuntarily. A "designer" sketches out their designs and plans them through meticulously; making sure they have enough fabric or leather or whatever material they plan to work with before they ever start said project. A "designer" is competent when it comes to dealing with potential customers and can easily relay their vision or express their point of view without sounding like a complete doofus. A "designer" sees a project through and truly enjoys putting on the finishing touches. Also, a "designer" would never use their own spit to remove tailors chalk marks from an unfinished garment intended for sale. For shame!

So in name is April and I am an artist. Thanks for stopping by.

I am a self taught independent designer. Sewing away in my old drafty house, that sits next to a river, overlooking downtown. The rock squirrels are thieves, the lizards are jerks, the geese are punks, and there are spiders everywhere. It suits me.

Frequently asked questions

If you have an issue with your item once you receive it, please contact me first and foremost.

➣Most of my designs are one of a kind pieces and if the fit is off or there's just something you're not digging about it, I will refund your original purchase price after item is returned and deemed to be in the same new and clean condition that it left my hands. I am not responsible for return shipping costs, nor will the original shipping charge be refunded. I have a 14 day window for returns after package is marked delivered by the postal carrier.

Must read for international customers.

➣International customer please be aware that your postal service may charge VAT, duties, or custom fees for your package before delivery can be completed. These fees are enforced by your country and are your responsibility to pay in full before you can receive your package. If you fail to pay these fees; the package will be returned to me and I will refund the purchase price for your goods minus the original shipping amount charged.

➣amIndependent is not responsible for any international VAT, duties, or customs fees imposed by your country. If you would like to see if your county charges these fees and approximately what they would total; please check out this website -

Estimated shipping costs

➣My shipping prices include a fee for packing supplies. This fee is nominal and pre-calculated by me based on my expenses.

➣It is difficult to estimate shipping on many items, all of my shipping prices are figured using the furthest possible zip code from my origin point. If the actual shipping price is greater than $1.00; I will refund the difference through your original payment processor (Etsy or PayPal.)

➣It is also very hard to estimate shipping cost when shipping more than one item. If you would like to have an actual shipping quote on one or more items; please contact me and I will figure out the cost and charge accordingly.

Please double check your information before purchase.

>I use Etsy shipping to print my labels. Please double check your address listed with Etsy for accuracy. It is extremely difficult to reroute a package once it has shipped. I want you to get your swag as soon as possible so please make sure your address is correct. I cannot be held responsible if an item goes to the wrong address. Only time will tell if a package will make its way back to me or eventually find its way to you. Patience is key and a refund will depend on the outcome.

If your package gets lost in transit.

➣For lost packages; if it is gone for good, then I will make it right. You shouldn't have to pay for something you didn't ever receive. Original purchase price will be refunded minus shipping.

➣If the USPS has marked a package as delivered and you have not received it, please check with neighbors, family members and your post office to determine if the package has been delivered to the wrong address. Sometimes it's not lost... just misplaced. If you believe your package has been stolen; please contact me and I can help walk you through making a theft claim with the postal service.

Payments and taxes.

➣Payments accepted only through Etsy's Direct Checkout with a credit/debit card, Etsy gift card, or through PayPal. You may also checkout with a credit/debit card through PayPal without having an actual account.

➣I must wait until payment clears before shipping. Sometimes Etsy puts a hold on your payment while they are verifying your information. I cannot ship an item out during this time and have to wait until Etsy okays the purchase. Sometimes this can take up to 3 days, but usually it is within 24hrs.

➣State sales tax of 8.25% collected on purchases made within the state of Texas. This tax will be added on to your purchase through the PayPal or Etsy Checkout process.

If package issues should arise.

➣For damaged items; take pictures of the damage and do not discard the packaging material or any items contained within until a form has been filled with the USPS. If upon inspection, there has been fault within the shipping process; I will refund the original purchase price minus shipping.

➣For delayed packages; I would urge you to be patient. Sometimes the postal service has to reroute their carriers, or occasionally a package will end up on the wrong truck or just fall of the assembly line and lay unclaimed for awhile. Please contact me if you think there is a problem with delivery of your package.
