About

Knitted accessories handmade with love

Hello there! Welcome to MadCowls! My name is Madelyn. I'm a student at NC State University, studying Industrial Engineering, and I’m the designer, photographer, and creator behind MadCowls.

My mom taught me how to knit one day during a snow day when I was in second grade. She was knitting a scarf for my dad at the time and I couldn’t help but be entranced by the way the yarn passed over the needles and how the scarf slowly came to be. I had to learn. So she got out some scrap yarn and needles that she wasn’t using and proceeded to teach me the wonderful art of knitting.

I started this shop the beginning of my Freshman year in college. I had taken a break from knitting for quite a few years as life and school got busy. I wanted to get back into it after I saw one of the characters in my favorite TV show wearing this chunky, wool cowl that I absolutely needed in my life the instance I first laid eyes on it. After some intense online searching and brushing up on my knitting skills, I created a pattern, started knitting, and a week later MadCowls was born so that others could enjoy my creations too.

This shop provides me an opportunity to destress from the rigors of my Industrial Engineering degree and explore a side of myself that I don’t get to on a regular basis. I’m always looking for new things to create every time I pick up my needles, and knitting satisfies that creative curiosity.

I strive to make quality knitwear that you will love and wear for years. Each piece I create is unique, carefully handcrafted, and designed with you in mind. I hope you enjoy my creations as much as I do!
