Supplies from Nepal:
My supplies of felt balls and paper from Nepal are purchased either directly from Nepal, or through a variety of intermediary shops. I am happy to support Nepal's economy and its people through purchasing goods from Nepal, and contributing to charities active in Nepal.
Like me, you may have had an idealized view of Nepal -- the majesty of the Himalayas and Mount Everest, the strength of the Sherpa, and the simple and agrarian lifestyle.
However, this small country is dealing with some very harsh realities -- including recovering from civil war, separation of children from their families, lack of infrastructure and effective government, a caste system restricting social and economic opportunities, and, perhaps surprisingly, global warming.

This shibori inspired hand-dyed garland is in the shop now! Strung on natural linen cord, it is definitely one of a kind. It is a little lighter blue than the other hand-dyed garland, but they look great together.
Soon to be re-stocked! Pinks and navy, and green, and orange - love these colors together! Fun for mom or mom-to-be!
Another version of the hand dyed blue and white garland - love the blues in this one and the rings remind me of fairy stones.

About

MadeMary - garlands and more for you and your home

Creating with colors makes me happy, and I hope you will enjoy the color combinations in MadeMary creations! It is a pleasure for me to find beautiful materials, and put them together in simple, organic ways.

My garden and nearby landscapes provide lots of inspiration for my projects, as do textile patterns, fine artwork, and mundane objects ... you never know when a color combination will strike you as interesting! Sometimes the color combinations appear when I'm cleaning up the studio, and other times I sit and sort, try this color, then another, edit and re-arrange until the mix is satisfying and eye-catching.

I began knitting and embroidering as a teen and much later started machine sewing and sashiko stitching. After many years as a delighted Etsy buyer, I decided to open my own little shop. In an earlier life I taught environmental studies and I continue to be interested in environmental issues and making a healthy home for all of us.

My hope is that your MadeMary item will brighten your space, and add a celebratory cheer to your day, and that it will last for a long time - whether it is used daily or for special occasions.
