MadeMary's Shop Announcement

All sales from today through May 31 will go to charities working in Nepal.
Thank you.
Please see more on Nepal and ways to give below.

I have made contributions to the following charities: Doctors without Borders, Oxfam, Mercy Corps, Next Generation Nepal, and a local university gofundme campaign to raise money for rebuilding efforts. There are many other charities working in Nepal. My twitter feed includes more information.

Please the bottom of this announcement for more information on Nepal.

MadeMary offrers original felt ball garlands, gifts, hand-knitted accessories, and napkins in wonderful colors and textures, so you can find the perfect way to help you celebrate special days, & everyday days.

All garlands come packaged ready to give as gifts; please let me know if you would like to include a gift card.

Please contact me if you need more garlands than listed, or want a longer version.

I make the garlands myself, one at a time - and hope that you appreciate that I am a hands-on maker, not just a designer of my garlands. I have been selling on Etsy since 2009.

Supplies from Nepal:
My supplies of felt balls and paper from Nepal are purchased either directly from Nepal, or through a variety of intermediary shops. I am happy to support Nepal's economy and its people through purchasing goods from Nepal, and contributing to charities active in Nepal.
Like me, you may have had an idealized view of Nepal -- the majesty of the Himalayas and Mount Everest, the strength of the Sherpa, and the simple and agrarian lifestyle.
However, this small country is dealing with some very harsh realities -- including recovering from civil war, separation of children from their families, lack of infrastructure and effective government, a caste system restricting social and economic opportunities, and, perhaps surprisingly, global warming.
