The horseshoe is beautiful! The craftsmanship is top quality - not a loose bead to be found! The seller communicated with me throughout the process and shipping was very quick. Overall, I am highly satisfied with my purchase and will be back to this shop!!
My favorite material to work with is anything "reclaimed"
I love the idea of taking something that is no longer useful or wanted, and turning it into something new and beautiful, such as creating a paper quilt out of old textbook pages, or a beaded cross out of old barn wood.
I got started making the beaded horseshoes when I decided to make a special wedding gift for my niece and her husband, who are both horse lovers. I added beads and their initials to an old, rusty horseshoe, to wish them good luck, and soon other people were asking for them. I have a friend who owns horses, and he keeps me supplied with plenty of horseshoes in every size, shape and finish. Soon I was trying to figure what else I could attach beads to, and about that time my neighbor up the road had her parents' old barns torn down. She said I could take whatever I wanted, and I started making the beaded crosses too.
I've always been attracted to the geometric shapes and color combinations of quilts and stained glass. I was admiring all the colors and patterns of scrapbooking paper one day and decided to make a "quilt" out of them. Soon I was looking for unique paper everywhere I went; old books from flea markets, sheet music from garage sales. I even got worried that brown paper bags are being replaced with plastic bags, and started savings those! My favorite part of creating a new piece is choosing, arranging and rearranging the papers until I'm completely happy with the end result.
If anyone who purchases one of my pieces or photos enjoys them even half as much as I enjoyed making them, then I consider myself a successful artist.
Around the web
I live on 10 acres in the "suburbs" of Zena, OK with my husband and our dog, Trixie. I love living in the country. When I'm not crafting or gardening, my pastimes are sitting by the fire when it's cold or relaxing on the porch when it's warm.
