1. All recycled bags are completely processed by either pulling apart the glued seam, or by cutting a new opening along the side of the bag so that the bag can lay open flat for washing and disinfecting.
2. All bags are opened flat and scrubbed with cleaning and disinfecting solutions on both sides of the bag. Some bags require soaking to disinfectant and remove stains, That is done in a large plastic container when the bags are submersed in a disinfecting solution of chlorine water.
3. Washed bags are hung on line to dry, once dry, the bags are ready to be cut-out for sewing just as any other material.
4. All totes and other items are constructed with great care for durability as well as aesthetics!
My mission in upcycling items, such as feed bags and coffee bags, and other materials that are being discarded into our burgeoning landfills worldwide everyday, is to promote awareness for recycling. I want to develop a community center where I and volunteers will share ways to live a more sustainable lifestyle and keep our handcrafting traditions alive by teaching others.

Please consider starting a sewing group in your area to make the items for sale in your community to raise awareness for recycling.Recycled coffee bags and feedbags are a little different to work with than regular material. The biggest difference is the treatment of raw edges. I have made many sewing tutorials showing step by step how I make the items that I sell. Great use of recycled items. Very easy to work with to make it how I wanted..good service and the bag is well made, sturdy and nice looking. Recommend this site.

Don't Throw That Away!

My mantra is Don't Throw That Away!

I opened another Etsy shop in the spring of 2015 exclusively for my sewing tutorials for those of you who want to make these items yourself.

My mission in upcycling items, such as feed bags and coffee bags, and other materials that are being discarded into our burgeoning landfills worldwide everyday, is to promote awareness for recycling. I find that when people start thinking about recycling one material it is contagious and before you know it - they are recycling everything that they can - I encourage composting the kitchen and yard waste too! Compost and vermicomposting is another way to recycle.

Several years ago I had been saving my Starbucks coffee bags because I thought they were too pretty to throw out in the trash. The year we got that scare about lead in the paint on reusable tote made in China, I decided to try making my own shopping tote using the coffee bags as material. When I went shopping with it people asked where I got it, and when I told them I made it, they wanted me to make one for them. Later I upcycled feed bags and grain bags too. I want to raise awareness for recycling, and although this material does make great totes and other useful items, that isn't the answer to the millions of pounds of this stuff going into the landfills worldwide. My research is ongoing to learn more about what this material might be recycled into. The problem seems to be that it costs more to recycle this material than to make new, so until some bright entrepreneur finds a way to recycle this material into something that can be financially advantageous I suppose it will clog the landfills except for the ones we rescue and give a new life as an upcycled tote.

A WORD ABOUT RECYCLED MATERIAL
I recycle material such as woven polypropylene (PP) that is laminated to another type of plastic film. This is the common material that feed bags are made from. I process these feed bags by washing, disinfecting, and sometimes soaking in bleach water. The woven (PP) material is sometimes stained and may retain some of the dried residue of cleaning. I diligently try to make sure all this residue is removed before shipping however sometimes it may have been trapped in the woven part of the material, this residue can be vacuumed up.

Also please note that when you order multiple items Etsy does not multiply the quantity times the estimated processing time to shipping date; which is wrong because if processing time on 1 item is 2 weeks then if you order 2 of that same item it could be 4 weeks, but Etsy doesn't calculate that way so when ordering multiples of same item, please be aware that the estimated ship date that Etsy places on the invoice may not correct.

We are an all volunteer organization and all proceeds go to the operation of our recycling efforts. We provide a free community service to recycle specific non-traditional recyclables such as coffee bags, and feed bags. We also recycle salvaged non-textiles such as granite, marble and tile.

Once customer has ordered, if for any reason we need to contact customer, we will send a message through the contact feature on Etsy. If the customer doesn't respond within 48 hours we reserve the right to substitute an item of comparable value in case of choices extended in the listing purchased when the buyer didn't state which choice they want. We also reserve the right to substitute another item for the one purchased in case the listing purchased is discontinued or back-ordered items that have a long lead-time if buyer does not answer within 48 hours of our message being sent to them.

PLEASE NOTE that from time to time old listings get renewed that contain erroneous information such as old pricing, or free items offered in conjunction with some old offer, I apologize if this happens. PLEASE NOTE THAT I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REVISE SHIPPING FEES IF THEY EXCEED THE QUOTED AMOUNT. IF THE SHIPPING COST IS MORE THAN QUOTED, I WILL CONTACT YOU AND ASK IF YOU WANT A REFUND OR TO PAY ADDITIONAL FEE.

All items include delivery confirmation. NOT all items include insurance, only specific listings include insurance and those listings will state that insurance is included. All granite items include insurance in the shipping fee quoted.

Contact us before ordering if you want to ship in a manner other than stated in the listing. We do not include insurance on any item unless it is specifically stated in the listing.

We are not responsible for damage during shipping on items without insurance coverage included and the buyer must ask for insurance on any item that does not already include insurance in listing.

Shipment will be made to the ETSY address so please ensure the address is correct including unit or apartment and all necessary information.
Refunds and Exchanges
FIRST AND FOREMOST, for those who don't know, Etsy policy states that the seller is under no obligation to cancel an order once the buyer makes the transaction. It is strictly up to the seller if they want to cancel an order. I do want satisfied customers and I want to be fair. I hope the buyer is also fair minded because if it is their own error then it isn't fair to ask me to refund entire amount. I will consider requests per incident, and if the error is on my part then I will refund 100% of invoice amount; however if the fault is the buyer not taking the time to read the listing, not understanding what they are buying, then I probably won't cancel or refund the order because it is not my fault and I will lose time and or money because in some cases I may still have to pay some fees to Etsy and Paypal. If buyer didn't read listing, didn't understand what they were buying, changed their mind, whatever reason that is no fault of mine, then I will consider a refund with a refund fee of at least $5 will be deducted and balance will be returned within 45 days of request to refund.

More details about each type of possible incidents is listed in more detail below, refunds for damaged shipment and wrong product delivery, or other possible reasons are covered below as to the procedure that must be followed in order for us to consider a refund or cancellation. If your circumstance is not included below, please ask me and I will be glad to answer.

1. ABSOLUTELY NO REFUND ON PATTERNS/TUTORIALS
This is because they are electronic data and can not be retrieved. If you receive tutorial and after reviewing the tutorial find that the description given in the listing is contrary to the actual tutorial that you received, please contact me and explain your findings. If there has been a mistake on our part by inadequate description in the listing, or providing a tutorial contrary to the one listed, then we will discuss with you how best we can resolve the issues that you may have with the tutorial.

2. If the buyer changes their mind after they complete the transaction:
If buyer wants to cancel the order because they didn't take the time to read the listing and shop policy page (every listing has that warning at the beginning of the listing,) then I will lose money if I were to refund the entire amount because I still have to pay the fees to Etsy and Paypal. I also may of printed the order and started processing the recycled materials and that is why my store policy is that no order will be cancelled or refunded in full to the buyer who didn't take the time to read and understand the listing details and policy page details. The penalty to the buyer for not taking the time to read the listing and understand what they are buying, the fee charged for canceling an order after it is placed and paid for is 50% of the total invoice. I would much prefer to work diligently with that buyer to provide the item that they purchased as it is listed with the options provided for in the listing.

3. Damage during shipment:
We are not responsible for damage during shipping unless insurance was included.
We DO NOT include insurance, unless otherwise noted in the item listing description. YOU MUST REQUEST INSURANCE unless listing states it is included.

4. IF YOU PAID FOR INSURANCE and there is damage to an item, then the buyer must document the damage by pictures and written statement immediately, and keep the item, the shipping box, and all packing materials intact and available for inspection by their local post office personnel. The buyer must report damage to Maggie's Corner by Etsy message system within 24 hours of receiving the item. The buyer must also report the damage to their own post office so that an incident report number can be generated.

5. All items DO INCLUDE delivery confirmation and once the tracking number on item reports that the item is delivered, then the buyer has 24 hours to contact us with any problem they may have. If there is damage, or if the buyer is not satisfied with the product for any reason, the buyer has 24 hours to contact us via Etsy message system.

6. Once customer has ordered, and payment is received by us, if for any reason we need to contact customer, we will send a message through the contact feature on Etsy. If the customer doesn't respond within 48 hours, in the case that the material is out of stock at time of order, the ship by date will be revised to the maximum allowed on Etsy, and if the buyer still doesn't respond then a substitute material will be used to make the item. If buyer decides to cancel order because they didn't read the listing, I will consider a refund but it will include a penalty of 50% of the invoice total; so that means that the refund will be only 50% of the invoice due to costs incurred such as fees by Etsy and Paypal as well as the administrative time spent dealing with buyer's error.

7. Only a few items require mandatory insurance and that is the granite and marble items; which is included in shipping fee already. On all other items that don't include insurance you must contact me to add insurance before ordering **** before ordering**** we can add to your invoice. We are not responsible for damage to the product once postal service accepts item for shipment unless you take out the insurance.

8.
