Welcome!

Open the virtual door and come on in. I'm Chris and this is Maggie's Meltdown. Having kept my creative side cooped up for the last 400 years, she (Maggie, that is) has FINALLY chipped away enough concrete to spring forth into the light of day. Or maybe I should say she’s melted down the old me. So here we are, happy to be ourself: mixed up, mercurial, and melding metal! A few things in recent years made me (er, us) realize that what they say really is true: life IS short. Enjoy the time you have and the people you are given.

I’m interested in irony, in “incongruity”. The confluence of the organic and the industrial fascinates me. I like to work in mixed metals, mostly copper, brass, and silver. I love the hint of commotion that stones and glass beads bring to the mix.

I do not have classical training—just fortunate enough to have “sprung free” into a veritable nest of amazingly talented artists willing to be mentors! So my work is a collage of materials and influences and soul, striving to be a living unity that takes over the world. (Just making sure you’re still reading.)

Payment
Payment in full is to be made within 24 hours of purchase, unless you have been in prior contact with me and other arrangements have been made. Any sales for which this is not done will be canceled and the item re-listed.

Items will be shipped once payment can be verified.

Sales tax will be applied to California customers.

Shipping
Items labeled "Ready to Go" are shipped first class USPS within 2 working days of purchase. Should you need rush service, please contact me by way of "Notes to Seller" and I will do all I can to accommodate your request. Please keep in mind that in some cases, this may incur additional shipping costs.

Domestic shipments are sent with delivery confirmation. Maggie's Meltdown is not responsible for items lost in the mail or damaged in transit. If you would like your shipment insured, please leave me a request for insurance in the "Note to Seller" section of the checkout, BEFORE you actually checkout. Shipping costs will then be adjusted to reflect the insurance cost and you will be notified of any additional fees.

International shipments are shipped without insurance unless you specifically request it. If you would like your item shipped by registered mail (the only way to include tracking and insurance), please leave me a request in the "Note to Seller" section of the checkout, BEFORE you actually checkout. Shipping costs will then be adjusted to reflect the insurance cost and you will be notified of any additional fees.

All items are shipped in packaging appropriate for immediate gift giving.
Refunds and Exchanges
REFUNDS AND EXCHANGES:

Damage or flaws in craftsmanship constitute valid reasons for return, and under such conditions I will gladly provide a refund, minus shipping costs, provided that I am notified within 24 hours of receipt that there is an issue. (Because I ship everything with delivery confirmation I will be notified when you have received your package.)

A damaged item might have, for example, a broken chain, shattered stone, damaged pin back, etc. Please notify me within 24 hours of receipt the specific damage and your intent to return the item.

Flaws in craftsmanship can be defined as an unsoldered component or embellishment, sharp or unfinished edge, disconnected bezel or other condition that makes the piece unwearable. Please notify me within 24 hours of receipt the specific flaw and your intent to return the item.

Please note: this work is intentionally “organically industrial”, made of metals that by nature will tarnish. In some cases the piece may be waxed or patina'd to diminish the tarnishing but not in all cases and not by request. As such, tarnish, dark spots, small indentations, blemishes and minor inequalities are NOT indications of flaws in craftsmanship.

I do my best to provide through photos and text, the most accurate description of the item possible. Every listing will contain photos from many angles so you will have a chance to see the overall quality and craftsmanship of the piece. In most cases I will provide a photo of the item being worn, so that you can see the scale of the item relative to where it might generally be worn. Additionally, I will provide information on materials used, measurements and sizes for the item you are viewing. Photographs are usually taken in natural light, and nothing is enhanced. For each of these reasons, I do not take returns or make exchanges on the basis of scale, weight or color. Different computer monitors will show slight variations of the same color and I cannot be held responsible for these variations.

I do not accept returns that arrive without notice.

If you have any questions at all, contact me via my email address or the Etsy conversation option. I check my computer very regularly and answer as promptly as I humanly can.
Additional policies and FAQs
I’M SURE YOU WERE WONDERING:

I. CUSTOM ORDERS: I am not able at this time to accommodate custom order requests. When I am, I will post it in the shop.

II. RESERVES: I am not reserving items previewed on my blog or Facebook page. If you see an item you want there, please come to the Etsy shop.

III. CONSIGNMENT AND WHOLESALE: I am not entertaining any offers to consign or wholesale my work, at this time. I'm it!—designer, metal smith, postal runner, marketing kingpin, office manager, and as such the volume of my work is insufficient to accommodate this sort of relationship.

IV. THE ETSY BLACK MARKET: My work is not for resale. In the event that I find that you as a customer have purchased a piece of my work, to be resold or traded to someone else, I will file a complaint with Etsy.

V. CLEANING YOUR MAGGIE'S MELTDOWN JEWELRY: Baking soda, mild dish soap and water are all you should need to keep your piece looking new. The best way to clean your jewelry without messing up finishes or patinas, is to mix up a bit of water and baking soda into a thick paste. Dip a damp, SOFT toothbrush into the paste and scrub your piece vigorously. Rinse well and dry thoroughly right away. This is safe for both silver and stones.
