About MagicThimbleBoutique

Sales 10
On Etsy since 2012

I love needlework

I began sewing when I was about 6 and my mother taught me to embroider. It was a mess but I was hooked. My mother made clothes for my sister and myself and encouraged us to learn also. We learned the basics in Home Ec classes but Mama taught us the art. She also taught my to knit when I was ten or so.
When I began having children of my own (two sons and a daughter) I spent many happy hours creating clothing for them. After my divorce these skills made a big difference. I could never have afforded to keep my children clothed if I had had to buy all of their clothing.
Once they grew up and moved out, I could devote myself to other pursuits. I went back to school after 20 years and finally earned my Bachelors degree and now wish to expand my horizons.
I have always wanted to sell my creations and Etsy has finally given me a wonderful way to fulfill my dreams. I started about a year ago and have been having a wonderful time.
The future looks like fun.
I have since retired and moved to the Seattle area to be closer to my daughter and her new daughter and am able to sew full time now. I do love retirement

I grew up in Virginia, the child of a sailor and a teacher. My mother was an expert and I learned sewing and knitting from her. My grandmother helped me learn crochet and my best friend taught me to tat. I have always loved needlework of all kinds
