the step stool arrived today and the quality is excellent. The wood grain is beautiful and the finish is a perfect match for my furniture.

Beautiful stool and is perfect for my little ones room. Other stools have the lower step part of the way under the top. This turned into an issue for our girl. This stool has two wide steps perfect for when she tries to climb down from bed. Fast delivery and beautiful work.

In today's disposable world I'm making furniture for today and heirlooms for tomorrow.

In the 90's there was a high-school wood-shop teacher in the small town of Minonk, IL, the late Richard Funk. He left the world all to early, but before he did, he instilled in a few students an appreciation of early American craftsmanship and the knowledge of how to get it done.

Early on I took a liking to the simple, timeless designs and craftsmanship that the Shaker community brought forth. Though simple in appearance, their designs were engineered to last several lifetimes, and most did.

In today's world of disposable furniture made of veneered particle board, I wanted to make furniture that would last several lifetimes. 17 years in the U.S. Army have given me the unique experience of many different cultures, combined with extensive study and an artist's appreciation for wood as a medium, it shows strongly in my work.

Thank you visiting my shop and supporting the Etsy community of artisans. -Chris

    Everything Else

I handle the finances and the majority of the Etsy site. Occasionally I get a hand in the creative process but my main job is keeping sawdust out of the house. I'm also responsible for the not so great photography.

    Watch And Learn

We like to recycle scrap wood into our own projects, play in sawdust, and go help buy supplies. We DO NOT like to help mom clean up but we do it anyway.

We will arrange to have the item shipped back to us and will either make you a new one with your input or refund your money. Our products are custom made, to your specifications, so don't hesitate to include your desires for your purchase with your order to help us avoid such a situation. Thank you!

Additional policies and FAQs
In the design process we truly look to make a product that can be classified as heirlooms that will last over several generations. We like to use the catchphrase "built to last 300 years" but please keep in mind that these are natural wood products with intricate joinery and are therefore subject to wood movement and for woods such as cherry, a darkening of color, over time. If you have any questions about cleaning or later, refinishing, feel free to contact us.
