Okay if it was possible to give 10 stars, I would in a heartbeat! I was looking for specific objects for my daughter's first birthday. We are part Korean and during first birthday parties there's this tradition called a Doljabi, and I wanted custom kid-friendly objects for this ritual. I found the shop's apple listing and thought "!!! Maybe?!?" and reached out to Sarah (shop owner) to see if she could take on the project (I was asking for five objects, three of which weren't part of her shop). SUPER sweet and SUPER talented! She took on my project and they came out FANTASTIC! (The photo is the shop's photo, not mine btw). Perfect perfect perfect! I definitely recommend this shop!

About

Magnolia Surprise ~ Crochet for Kids and Home

I have always loved creating with my hands -- crochet, cross-stitch, embroidery, painting, ceramics, sewing. I am self-taught on all but ceramics and even still have the first thing I crocheted ~ a doily, and even though I somehow got it turned around backwards in the middle of things, it still turned out pretty good!

Though my shop focus is on crochet, you just might find a bit of those other loves from time to time -- that's where the Surprise comes in!

I love to crochet toys for the little ones -- pretend food for their play kitchen, amigurumi animals to hug and cuddle, play sets to spark their imagination. I use both cotton and acrylic yarns to crochet my toys, and always cotton for the play food -- no fuzzies! I make them with safety for the young child in mind -- embroidered eyes, arms and legs and other pieces-parts sewn on very securely. I do occasionally use plastic safety eyes that are securely fastened. My toys are recommended for ages 3 and up, in order to adhere to child safety standards.

I also crochet fun and colorful coasters and pot holders for your home and kitchen. These are made not only for protection but also with a sprinkling of whimsy to put a smile on your face!

My shop is named after my granddaughter, Magnolia, who got me started on making toys. After making animals and foodies for her, I decided to open Magnolia Surprise. Noli is still my source of inspiration!

I do it all -- make by hand everything in my shop, take all the photos, write all the descriptions. I pack and ship, write a blog, have a presence on FB and Twitter! I try to put a little of myself (and, of course, Noli) in all that I create!

Frequently asked questions

Care instructions

• Toys -- Spot clean or gently hand wash, roll in towel to absorb excess water, and air dry. Some reshaping may be needed.
• Coasters, pot holders -- gently hand wash and dry flat.

Safety Information

All of my toys are made with your child's safety in mind. This is my utmost priority -- I double sew attached parts (arms, legs etc) so that they are securely sewn on. Safety information is included on each toy listing as well as on a hang tag on the toy itself.

Most of my toys are intended for children 3 years old and older who no longer put things in their mouths, though some are good for all ages with no small parts. I do use plastic safety eyes which are considered "small parts" and therefore intended for ages 3 and older. Plastic safety eyes are securely fastened and locked into place. If you would prefer embroidered eyes on an animal, please let me know -- I would be happy to make a special order for you.

Custom Orders

I will be glad to make something special for you! If you are wanting different colors or more than one, or perhaps an animal that is not listed, just let me know and I'll see what I can do! Just click the "Ask a Question" button and I'll answer ASAP!
