This book is beautifully done! The reader instantly senses the loving bond between mother and daughter.
MagsArtsShop is named after Margaret Worthen. Who is she?
Margaret Worthen was an energetic college student until she had a severe brain stem stroke when she was 22 years old. Suddenly she could not talk, eat or move her body, yet she was fully conscious. Her mother wanted to find a way for her to communicate because Margaret could move one of her eyes up and down to answer questions. So Margaret worked hard using a computer, and her mom found ways to make her life as interesting as possible. Margaret traveled to places she loved, learned to meditate and then met an art therapist.
With this art therapist, Margaret and her mother learned to paint together using a hand over hand technique. For three years, Margaret and her mother created watercolor and acrylic paintings and made cards, blank books, bags and tee shirts from her artwork.
After Margaret died, her mother continued to paint and created a children's book in her honor.
MagsArtsShop sells blank books with Margaret's artwork on the covers and a children's book illustrated by Nancy and Margaret Worthen. MagsArtsShop funds projects for artists and persons with disabilities.
