These little pincushion dolls are so cute. Still working on fixing them up a bit but I couldn't be happier with them! Thanks!

My Summer Vacation...or How I Opened my Etsy Store.
Work hard at what you love, do it with kindness, integrity, to the best of your ability and your efforts will be rewarded. AND you will enjoy your work. That's how I feel about my Etsy store. I work hard and turned my passion into a fulfilling business. Seemingly frivolous on the outside, but for me, it was a much needed distraction. Play and purpose during a difficult time. I was a new stay at home mom. I'd spent my adult life chasing disasters, working for the American Red Cross. Following tornadoes and hurricanes all over this interesting country of ours. I had a difficult time transitioning from a high stress, adrenaline pumping job to my new roll as a stay at home mommy, at middle age, no less. I loved being at home with my baby. A joyful bundle of love and giggles. But frankly, I was suffering a bit with post partum baby blues. I started my store on a whim. Friends had said I have a good eye. They'd say "what a cool piece. Where did it come from?" My response was always the same, "a tag sale, or a Church bizarre"
My mom and dad have always been thrifters. My dad, oddball treasures like rocks, strange dolls, taxidermy, and artifacts. My mom, on the other hand, would buy yards of Laura Ashley fabric, salt cellars, or pretty canisters to hold coffee beans or sugar. Everything in our house was de-canted. De-canted? That is to say, no ordinary bags of sugar or plastic bottles of dish soap. Oh heavens no. We had pretty little containers for everything. A salt cellar hung on the wall. Butter was kept in a vintage stoneware crock on the counter top. Even dish soap was in an elegant etched glass bottle. Our home was filled with second hand painted furniture and re-upholstered pieces. My mom and I recovered the same sofa 4 times in ten years. When I moved into my first apartment, that same sofa went with me. With yards of white duck fabric, we recovered it again and splatter painted it in hot 1980's neon colors. Turquoise, hot pink, black and yellow. I was sooo cool, at 18, with a stylish apartment. Ahem, it was the 80s!
Essentially, I've always thrifted and repurposed. My hobby is now a small cottage business. I'm still a stay at home mom, to a tiny joyful sprite. Etsy is my outlet to connect with others with similar taste.
Etsy allows me to provide an exceptional level of customers service. I strive to exceed my customers expectations. It's my pleasure, actually.
Sit a spell, won't you and have a look around?
