From Dolls Houses to Felt Brooches

Hi, my name is Annelie, also known as Annie, and the owner and designer of the Make with Annie craft kit range.

I like singing instead of talking, dancing around the kitchen, and making things with my hands!

I have crafted since I was a child. My dolls always had the most beautiful cardboard houses to live in. Decorated with wall paper and real fabric curtains I would spend weeks perfecting them.

As an adult I always used craft as a brilliant therapy to relieve the stresses of a busy life, and hectic work load, but soon craft began to become more of a passion than just a hobby. It also took over half of our living room and attic!

I crochet, knit, work with clay, sew, draw and write and love learning new crafts. But it really is felt that has gained my excitement.

Working with felt is fun and easy. With it's bright and funky colours and its easy to cut texture I realises that it makes an easy textile for anyone to use. So I started making some small apple brooches and then quickly developed my range to incorporate a mushroom, teacup and paw.

All the designs and patterns have been hand drawn by me, and then imported into a graphics package where I make them all shiny and easy to use. I have made each brooch more times than I can count to ensure that the instructions are informative and easy to follow.

The kits are suitable for adults and for children, so don't let age be a barrier.

I think that there is nothing nicer than walking around wearing something that you made, especially when you get a compliment on it.

I now live in Cornwall with my Cat and Mr H, where I spend my days running my business and developing my craft.

As well as running Make with Annie, I also run a blog called The Craft Collective which has weekly blog posts, not all written by me, as I invite the world of craft to write their own blog posts to create an online magazine of crafty loveliness. And I currently work from a desk in the corner of the living space, which is always a mess of wonderful craft things, pictures waiting to be created, bunting waiting to be hung, mood boards ready for hanging, books, and magazines and I love it.

Make with Annie also appears at regular craft fairs around Cornwall and we are hoping to expand into craft workshops throughout this year. If you want to know more about where we will be then just head to our Facebook page.

We can also produce custom orders, so if there is something you would like as a kit but we don't have it, then drop us a line and we can see if we can help you out.

I love bright colours and cute designs and these brooches and keyring's remind me of the cartoons I would watch, read and draw as a child.

They are fun and happy designs to bring a little cheer into our lives.
