MakinoStudios' Shop Policies
Welcome to the online store for Makino Studios. I paint with sumi ink that I grind in an ink stone, adding color with Japanese watercolors. I apply the ink and paint onto paper with bamboo brushes. Each piece includes an original haiku or other words. As is traditional in Asian art, I stamp each painting in red with one of my personal seals.
Much of my work is inspired by the Japanese tradition of haiga, artwork combined with haiku so the image and words deepen and enrich each other. I also draw on the Japanese custom of etegami, painting and mailing postcard art with a few well-chosen words.
My goal as an artist and writer is to help people find joy and meaning in their daily lives and deepen their connections with the people they love.
I accept payments via PayPal or Etsy DirectCheckout. I require a verified address at PayPal.
California residents are charged sales tax.
I usually ship items via first-class USPS mail within one or two business days of receiving an order.
If you would like insurance or expedited shipping on your order, please let me know and I will calculate the additional cost.
Original paintings are shipped insured within the US and registered to overseas addresses.
For international orders, buyers are responsible for any applicable customs fees.
