About

A creative journey.

I always loved creating things. I did a lot of sewing with my Mum as a child and I tried a few things, some of which I still have. Years later I decided I wanted to learn a new skill so went to evening classes and qualified as an Upholsterer. Whilst at the same time I taught myself to make curtains and soft furnishings for my own home. In 2011 I wanted to make something special for a friend's birthday so I made her a bag. And around the same time I made my first ever Leather Journal for my then partner. And that was it, I got hooked and opened my Etsy shop. I started off by making lots of cushions and bags.

When I got married in 2012 I wanted to give a personal gift to the Bridesmaids, Best Man and Ushers at the wedding. So I decided to make a journal for each of them with a personal message from us inside. They went down really well so I made another batch for my shop. Since then I have developed a style all of my own, adding beautiful paper linings, ribbons, cords etc. They have so many uses; Journal, Diary, Sketchbook, Scrapbook, Recipe Book, travel journal, bucket list, gratitude journal, baby journal etc.

A lot of them are One Offs or Limited Editions creating unique items hand made with love and care. Some items in my shop are available and ready to ship, or you can request a Custom Order if you have a particular colour or design in mind. Map Journals are something unique to me. I can line the Journals with vintage OS maps, or pages from an Atlas'. Making a really unique present.

I am always on the look out for lovely papers and ribbons and get so excited when I see something new to try. I hope that feeling never fades.

Leather is a natural material and creases and marks are an inherent part of the material.

I use old Atlas', vintage Ordnance Survey maps and Road Atlas to produce Map Journals. These maps are not new, they have had a previous life, and may well have marks, and folds in the case of ordnance survey and road maps etc. This adds to the charm of the finished journal. I would not use any map that I would not accept myself to keep my standards very high.
