MaluhiaPhotoArt is taking a short break
My intention is nothing more than to spread aloha through my work, whether you wear it or enhance your space with it.
I have been creating memories though photography since I was a kid, getting my first camera at age 10 and buying my first 35mm when I was 17. Photography has been a huge part of my life and I feel it is so important to photo document events and people for the next generations to have a visual diary of history. Working with my camera I'm inspired everyday, by the people I meet and the places I go, it truly is the greatest job!
My interest in history and performing arts lead me to to the art of Hula. I have been completely immersed in the beauty of the Hawaiian culture and dance since I started about 10 years ago. It has led me to traveling and exploring the history in the Hawaiian Islands, and has inspired me to create, drawing from a deeper sense of self, which I give to each stone pendant and island photograph..
Along with photography I have long had a passion for film, particularly documentary storytelling. I'm so excited to be able to provide video production to my business services. I have started working with small businesses providing a medium to share their stories of how they started and where they came from. Meeting new people and helping them share their stories is extremely inspiring and one of my favorite things I get to do.
The use of my name, Maluhia, in the business, holds me true to the inspiration that guides my work. My logo was carefully chosen to reflect my past, present, and future, my personal and creative growth, my interests, my essence, and my soul. Maluhia is the Hawaiian word for peace, and the turquoise color comes from the sea as it receives the light of the sun. The words that inspired the double spiral symbol: "The Double Spiral represents the dual purpose of life - the journey inward to your Essence, and then outward to the world.”
I have a deep passion for what I do and love to help capture and celebrate the special moments in life, whether through photography , video or gifts.
I hope you enjoy my work, thank you for stopping by!
