About

Retired woman in California who loves fabric and international items

Hello, I'm a "retired" woman of 70+ years old and I'm combining my lifelong love of fabrics and my love of international travel into my shop, Mango Tree Creations.

Living in San Diego, right next to the Mexican border, I can go into Mexico and handpick serape cloth that I make into serape table runners, placemats, and wall hangings -- great for parties, weddings, graduation, etc. If I don't love the cloth, I don't buy it!

As a dressmaker to plus size women I developed a pattern that makes them look good. Then I discovered the beautiful batik cloth from Indonesia and India and adapted that fabric to my pattern -- and have sold hundreds of these beautiful tunics and caftans on Etsy.

I love batiks from many countries and eras. When I lived in interior China decades ago amid the water buffalo and rice paddies, I discovered the wonderful handmade batiks made by the minority women in the province.

I have access to estate sales in wealthy southern California communities (near Palm Springs). When I hit an estate sale, I go right to the bedroom and closets to find all of those wonderful old lace table cloths and other treasures.

I do all of my sewing and my photographing, listing, communications, selling and shipping myself.

I hope you love the beauty and diversity of my international cloth items!
