☆ SIZING INFORMATION ☆
Vintage clothing tends to fit much differently than modern clothing of today. Modern clothing tends to be cut more loosely and is designed to fit a variety of body shapes where as vintage clothing is usually cut more closer to the body. Vintage garments were often custom tailored to fit an womans individual size and shape, sometimes with evidence of minor alterations.
It is important that with these close tailored fits, that you allow for enough wearing room to move with ease and feel comfortable while wearing your vintage garment. Also, with many garments having been altered, there is sometimes room for further tailoring to suit your needs as well, such as letting out or taking in. Feel free to convo if you have a question regarding this on a particular item.
Vintage Garments should always be worn with care and consideration of their age.
☆ MEASURING YOURSELF ☆
Use a dressmakers tape measure, which is usually available anywhere locally that fabric or sewing supplies or sold, measure yourself over whichever undergarments you plan to wear, not over your clothes.
BUST: Measure around the bust making sure to measure at the fullest part of your bust while wearing a bra
UNDERBUST: measure around the fullest part of your ribcage, about midway between your bust and waist
WAIST: measure around the smallest point of your waist where it naturally curves in
HIPS: measure around the fullest point of your hips. This is usually about 8"-9" below your waist
LENGTH: measure from the top of your shoulder, where a normal shoulder seam would lie, down the front, to the point you want the garment to end at the hem
BODICE LENGTH: Measure from the top of your shoulder, where a normal shoulder seam would lie, down the front flat between the bust to your waist
SKIRT LENGTH: Measure from your waist, down the front, to the point you want the garment to end at the hem.
SLEEVES: Measure from the edge of your shoulder down the arm to where you want the cuff to end.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please send a message before purchasing.
