From simple beginnings, an American dream thriving for four decades.
Mike Rainville ha iniziato a lavorare il legno all'età di 11 anni come hobby quando Pat, sua madre, gli ha detto che aveva bisogno di trovare qualcosa da fare. Poco dopo, il seminterrato di Pat divenne la falegnameria. Nel 1979, si è affermato alle fiere dell'artigianato locale e vendeva ai negozi. Tra i primi oggetti realizzati c'erano bobine, portabobine e tavole da presepe.
Quattro decenni dopo, i dipendenti di Maple Landmark, un nome derivato dal nome della fattoria di famiglia, creano un'ampia varietà di prodotti dalle tavole originali di cribbage ai puzzle agli ornamenti. Mike è ancora al timone, alla guida di un equipaggio che comprende altri 5 membri della famiglia.
L'obiettivo di Maple Landmark è sempre stato e continua ad essere l'utilizzo della popolazione locale per modellare il legno locale nei bellissimi prodotti in vendita. Sarebbe facile vendere a un produttore straniero, ma ciò non sarebbe fedele alla storia e ai valori storici che sono stati così importanti.
Mike Rainville picked up woodworking at age 11 as a hobby when Pat, his mother, told him that he needed to find something to do. Shortly thereafter, Pat’s basement became the woodshop. By 1979, he has established himself at local craft fairs and was selling to stores. Among the first items made were spools, bobbin holders, and cribbage boards.
Four decades later, the employees of Maple Landmark, a name derived from the family farm name, craft a wide variety of products from the original cribbage boards to puzzles to ornaments. Mike is still at the helm, leading a crew that includes 5 other family members.
Maple Landmark’s focus has always been and continues to be utilizing local people to shape local wood into the beautiful products that are for sale. It would be easy to sell-out to an overseas manufacturer but that wouldn’t be true to the storied history and values that have been so important.
