The Genius Loci Collection is made from wood ash and raw materials from sustainable sources and local suppliers. These creations revert destruction caused by mediterranean forest fires, using precisely fire and ashes from burnt trees to glaze handmade ceramics that keep the genius loci alive and turn destruction into warm daily objects, created to last a lifetime.

My collections speak of my journey from the very first day I started learning ceramics at a local workshop, october 2007.

I was working part time as a pharmacist while studying Interior Design, and I felt the need to just relax and make something off screen for a few hours a week. What began as a hobby turned into passion in two years and naturally evolved to become my professional path since then.

But there was still something missing, as I felt I was wasting both my chemistry and design backgrounds in some way. I often go hiking to connect with nature and one day I faced one of my country´s most dangerous problems. I went to a forest I love to have a nice walk, and found it absolutely devastated by a forest fire. Nothing remained alive. A few rocks over there entirely covered by a black coat, and that was it. It´s shocking to walk the ground of a tragedy you see in the news, week after week, and we´ve got plenty of that in Spain. My country is being systematically deforested up to desertization, and that is leading us to a future that won´t met our most basic needs.

That shifted the way I create and live. I´m now more conscious, careful, intentional and minimalist than I´ve ever been in my life. I don´t waste raw materials, I get them from local and responsible sources, I donate money to reforestation with native species and I figure out how connect my mediterranean culture with people through my designs and revert destruction caused by fire using wood ash from those places.

And last but not least, I finally found my way to integrate my three natures. The scientific part makes the research needed to formulate, calculate and run the tests to obtain safe and stable glaze formulas. The creative one balance toghether form, function, aesthetics and story of each design. The crafter devotes to handmaking the collection and share it with you.
