I love the blues, purples, and greens together in these Kazuri beads. It's such a modern color combination coming all the way from Kenya. The earrings are absolutely charming!

These Kazuri beads make a very organic necklace with the combined dark and light colors. It's fine craftmanship as well as design. They are delightful!

About

Left Brain-Right Brain

I happened upon Etsy by accident searching for gemstone jewelry. I was impressed by the online experience. My sister-in-law taught me to bead probably around 6 years ago. It is great therapy designing jewelry and working with colorful beads and gemstones.

By day, I am a CPA. The funny thing is everyone tells me I don't act like a CPA. I have had two life coaches tell me I am equally left and right brained. So, designing jewelry feeds the other side of my brain!

I fell in love with Kazuri beads on a trip to Asheville. There were necklaces made of Kazuri beads in a boutique. I also fell in love with the story behind the beads. Karuri means small and beautiful. Each bead is unique, made with love by mainly single moms in Kenya. A daughter of a missionary went back to Kenya and started a cottage industry, where mainly single mothers could earn a fair trade by making beautiful ceramic beads. I create necklaces and earrings from these beads, and then donate 10% of the profits from the sales of these beads to a local mothers and childrens home. Thus, it comes full circle.

On a typical day, I get up, fix the coffee, get the kids up and off to school, check emails and in between accounting work, I will design jewelry. Afternoons are spent getting orders ready to ship. I also enjoy shopping Etsy for supplies from other Etsy shops!

I think my business background has helped me to be organized and customer service is key to a successful business.

Enjoy!
