I got this cuff for a friend of mine who was born in Puerto Rico for Christmas (I gave it to her early because I hate waiting if I have the present in hand lol). She absolutely loved it; she went home and looked up to see if the coordinates were accurate, which they are. She said when she wears it, the cuff serves as a conversation piece. People see the numbers and want to know what it means. Thanks for helping me to purchase a gift with the perfect personal touch.

Working on sawing off the geo shapes of the island of PR. Next they'll be stamped, curved and attached to the leather cuffs. This is a labor of love #boricua

About

Handcrafted jewelry for making people feel beautiful

My name is Maribel, Mari for short, and I am the creative source behind MariRu Design Studio. I have been creating jewelry since forever and it wasn't until recently that I decided to make it an important part of my daily life. While I have a BA in Chemistry and Spanish, I have always had a passion for creating things and let's face it, my little stint as a classical guitar player was not enough to fulfill that creative side, so I decided to pursue my jewelry making activities instead.

My favorite job ever was at a specialty bead store in Washington, DC which inspired and motivated me to continue my education in jewelry making and allowed me to complete a couple of introductory silversmith courses in addition to the classes I've already completed in basic beading, wire wrapping and advanced wire wrapping techniques.

I currently reside in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico and continue to be the designer, marketing specialist, administrator, shipper, customer service rep, and photographer of MariRu Design Studio.

Life is good... in Sunny Puerto Rico.

I hope you enjoy browsing through my shop. My name is Maribel and I have been making handcrafted jewelry since the early 90's. After working at a couple of local beadstores in the Washington, DC metro area, I decided to move back home and began my own little shop.

My goal is to provide my customers with beautiful hand crafted jewelry pieces that bring a smile to their faces. I look forward to provide you all with little pieces of art that reflect your style and personality.

MariRu Design Studio works with fine metals, brass, copper, German silver, leather, pure silver, sterling silver, recycled sterling silver, recycled copper, aluminum, gemstones, and found objects. Our metal pieces are pure and raw, they are not plated. Copper and brass tend to oxidize over time, which provides a weathered look to the piece and metals such as copper, German silver and brass can discolor the skin temporarily. I coat the copper and brass pieces with and eco-friendly sealant, but the sealant wears over time.

The composition of our metals:
Pure Silver: .999 silver
Sterling silver: 92.5 silver and 7.5 copper
Red Brass or Nu Gold is 85% copper and 15% zinc
German silver: 65% copper, 18% nickel, and 17% zinc
Copper: 100% copper
Recycled sterling silver: 100% recycled sterling silver
Recycled copper: 100% recycled copper
