This is custom-made black Panama hat with a flat top and wide brim. It has been done with superb craftsmanship and care to details that are observable on the tightness of the weave on the crown and the finishing on the brim. Most importantly, it fit perfectly and is gorgeous and chic. I have never seen anyone offering Panama hats that were custom-dyed. Edgar Puma who manages the company in Ecuador is very customer oriented and told me that the filling of the order would take a couple of weeks as this was a custom job. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that the hat was on its way almost 4 weeks later. It arrived on time and well packed. Wonderful company and people to deal with and gorgeous product. Thank you so much!

Thanks for visiting my shop!

My mother and many other women from our Andean region have decades of experience on hand-weaving panama hats. My two grandmothers, my mother and my aunts have done this traditional activity since they were little girls; so, I can say there are countless panama hats around the world, and one of these might already be in your hands.

A panama hat is well known for its durability, flexibility, lightness and softness. In addition, a panama hat is an extraordinary accessory that protects you from the sun and keeps your head fresh; I use one when working in my family’s small farm.

María Mercedes’ Hat is not only my shop but the shop of the ladies that have put all their efforts into their creations. Through this shop, I want to create an opportunity for them to get what they deserve for their crafts and for you to get a hand-made product of high quality.
