About

Medicine Jewelry

I create slow design, handcrafted gemstone, metal, and beaded jewelry. I design limited edition collections using vintage components that I repurpose and recycle in unique but modern ways. I also uses the ancient technique of wire wrapping to create one-of-a-kind pieces of intricate wearable art.

I work out of my home studio in the hill country of Texas, which is completely fueled by Mother Earth herself, with solar power and rain water, and I strive to live a low impact life.

My work invites you to harness the power of purchasing with purpose, to decorate yourself in high-vibe designs, and to support female artists.

HOW I STARTED
I was born and raised in the hill country of Mississippi, surrounded by sturdy magnolia trees and fragrant cedars. Our family also made annual trips to Arkansas to dig for quartz crystals at a public quarry near Hot Springs. It was these crystals I’d collected over the years that sparked the idea to begin creating jewelry.

I moved to Austin Texas in 2012 and began experimenting with crystals and wire while I was a full time elementary special education teacher. Although I loved my students, the idea of having to be somewhere 5 days a week / 9 hours a day was quite overwhelming for me and I eventually quit my job.

I got rid of most of my possessions, packed my car, and moved out to 3 different farms in Texas, to try my hand at living off the land, a dream I’d had since I was a young girl. I loved being surrounded by nature each day, waking with the sun, doing my chores, and then creating jewelry.

Then I met my partner and settled with him in our home outside Austin, where I now create jewelry as a full-time job. We live nestled amongst 16 acres of juniper forest, in a solar powered, rain water collecting cabin. I produce my work here in the cabin, surrounded by birdsong and open air.

Since there is no way for me to create a piece of jewelry that meets the exact specifications/expectations of any one person, if you’d like me to make an adjustment or change to your piece of jewelry after you receive it, you are responsible for shipping costs to me and from me back to you. I will send you a link to pay $5 once I receive your piece. It may seem small and pointless, but $5 adds up for hundreds of customers, so I thank you for understanding!

While I strive to create work that will last a lifetime and beyond, I am only human and sometimes items will need repairs. I will gladly make free repairs anytime on any piece of jewelry you purchase from me but you are responsible for shipping costs to me.

JEWELRY CARE

I takes great care in creating each piece of my jewelry and it should be gently cared for in turn. Brass and sterling silver naturally oxidize over time so storing your jewelry in a box or a sealed plastic bag after each use is best. Once your jewelry begins to patina, use a jewelry polishing cloth to restore its luster and shine.
