Announcement   Martin's Mercantile was a highly recognized and respected name in the re-enacting community from 1990 to 2001. Judy Martin was the proprietress. Through Judy's 11 years in business, she had the opportunity to collect and study original costumes and textiles during the Civil War era at a variety of museum in the United States and in England. Also, Judy collected an extensive collection original garments and accessories through her career. In 2001, she decided that it was time to leave the hobby for personal reasons and enjoy retirement along with her husband Ray, the "official corset fitter" of Martin's Mercantile. For the last 7 years, Judy's costume collection has been properly stored for historical purpose to preserve the past for our future. It is now time to sell the collection to the new era of living historians so they can appreciate and love the items as much as Judy did.

Items to be sold: they will be sold "AS IS" and there are no returns. Once the item is gone, it is gone. Sold on a first come first serve basis.

Prices: are what we paid for them over 11 years ago. they are below the current market value which I have been seeing on ebay.

Shipping: I know shipping seems high, but your item(s) will be via the USPS, insured and tracked.

The items that you see is 11 years of collecting and preserving from 1990 to 2001. We are completely out of the hobby and want to share our treasures with the next generation to study and cherish. The items have been preserved to the best of our abilities in controlled environments. Some items were purchased to "save" them so they would not be destroyed any further.

Accepted payment methods

  • Pay with Visa
  • Pay with Master Card
  • Pay with American Express
  • Pay with Discover
  • Pay with PayPal
  • Money Order
Payment
PayPal and money orders are accepted. Payment via PayPal is due within 2 days of "ordering" the item(s). If a money order is sent, the money order must be received 7 days after the sale.
Shipping
I ship via United States Postal Service: priority mail, insurance and tracking. Unfortunately, that is why the shipping costs are so high. The less hands to handle your items, the better. Due to the fragility of the antiques, I do take care to ship your item to preserve the condition. That is why the shipping is high. I refuse to crush items that are fragile and further help distroy historical items.

If more than one item is purchased, money may be refunded to your paypal account due to shipping costs. The added money for the "second" item is a guestamate and may be prorated.

Shipping of packages will be after payment has been received. Will notify you when the package is on the way with the tracking number. At this present time, I can only ship on Thursday mornings and Saturdays due to my work schedule until mid-May (2014).

I do ship international. Please contact me and let me know so I can guestimate the cost for you.

Due to Import Laws in China, I am unable to ship any of my antiques to China.
Refunds and Exchanges
Items will be sold "AS IS" and there are no returns.
Additional policies and FAQs
Prices: are what we paid for them over 11 years ago. They are below the current market value which I have been seeing on ebay. I am looking for the next persons who will love the items as much as we did and become the next gardians of the past.

NOTE: these items are not laundered. I do not wash the items. All undergarments are traditionally of a white cotton. Items may be discolored to a "yellowish" hugh due to age. I still refer to the items as "white".

Descriptions: I have described each item to the best of my abilities.
