Mary Anne Karren Studio

My design aesthetic is simple. I like to make beautiful, simple, and functional things. Clean lines, elegant shapes, strong contrast. No fuss. When someone tells me they wear a piece of mine every single day, I know I have struck upon a great design: with beauty and versatility, the right proportions, the right balance of shape, color and light.

I use traditional silver, gold, and coppersmithing techniques and materials.

I made jewelry full time for two years and had a lot of fun doing it, but I'm a hobbyist again and my shop is open on a part-time basis as a creative outlet. I experiment in my shop in my spare time, and if I come up with something I like, I list it here. Because of time constraints, I'm not able to take any custom orders or requests.

Returns and exchanges
I strive to make ultra high quality products that you will absolutely love! I understand that buying and selling online can be challenging.

Returns on most goods:
I accept returns on any item that I normally carry in my shop and that is not personalized, customized, or modified for the customer. If an item is not what you expected, or you just don't love it, I will accept a return or exchange within one week if the item is in its original condition. The buyer must pay shipping costs for returns. I do not issue refunds for shipping charges.

Custom orders:
I do not accept returns on items that are customized, modified, or personalized specifically for the customer.

Please take careful note of the sizes, as items tend to look bigger on your screen than they are in real life! This is especially true with jewelry as I am using extreme closeups and a macro lens to show fine detail. It's a great disappointment for me and for you when the size of your jewelry is not as expected, so please consider carefully before ordering. If you are unsure I may be able to provide additional photos to demonstrate scale.
I accept PayPal or credit cards, including Visa, MC, AMEX, Discover.

Please note that I will not begin work on any order until after your payment clears. In the case of Paypal e-checks, this will add 7-10 days to the processing time for your order.
Most in stock items will ship within three business days after I have received your payment. Occasionally during busy periods, or for international orders, it will take me a day or two longer...please let me know if you need your order expedited.

Made-to-order and customized items will be shipped within about two weeks of your purchase, but may take longer during busy times. I strive to maintain good communication so that you know exactly what to expect. Thanks for your patience!

I use US Postal Service First Class mail as my default shipping method for the best rates domestically and internationally. If you prefer USPS Priority mail (2-3 days to most US destinations), the cost is $5.50. Just leave a "note to seller" during checkout with your shipping preference and I will send you a PayPal invoice for the balance. Please note: I will not ship until your shipping balance is paid in full.

In a BIG hurry? Some orders may be expedited via USPS Express (1-2 days for most US destinations) for about $20. Express International is usually about $50 and arrives within about a week. Please contact me before purchase (please include your zip code) to check whether I can expedite your order.

I am happy to ship to international customers and have shipped my jewelry to many different countries with no problems. Please be aware that shipping out of the country adds additional challenges:

***International ship times: Packages shipped out of the USA must go through your country's customs. Occasionally packages are delayed in customs for 1-6 weeks. Therefore, I can't guarantee any specific arrival date when shipping to another country. In general, shipping by First Class Mail will get your package there in 2-4 weeks, and shipping by Express Mail will get your package there within 4 days, but I DO NOT GUARANTEE arrival within a certain time frame because customs delays are always possible.

***Customs documents: I must fill out a customs form to ship into your country. I will indicate that your package contains jewelry merchandise and the exact value of the merchandise in US dollars. I will not falsify customs documents. Thank you for your understanding.

***Taxes and Duties: your country may charge a duty or tax on jewelry or other merchandise coming into your country. Taxes or duties are the customer's responsibility. I will not reimburse for any fees, duties, taxes, or other charges made by your country on my products. Here is a useful link to calculate duties that you may be required to pay on your shipment:
Additional policies and FAQs
I am happy to make a modification of my existing designs for you (different size, gemstone, length, color, etc) using the materials I have on hand. Please contact me to set up a reserved listing, and I will begin work on your customized piece as soon as your payment has cleared. Customized and personalized orders may not be returned.

Due to time constraints, I no longer accept custom orders that are not based on one of my existing designs, nor do I make settings for a customer's stones.

Necklaces: Most necklaces can be easily resized. I am happy to resize most necklaces for you before I ship--just leave a message for me in the "Note to seller" during checkout. If you should require resizing after you have received the necklace, I am happy to do this but will require the buyer to pay shipping costs.

My home studio does not contain the specialized equipment that a chain jeweler might have to quickly and cheaply resize rings. Therefore, all resizing is done by hand and there is a limit to what can be done. Some rings can't be resized at all.

It's important to get an accurate size before you purchase your ring. If you are unsure of your size, you may:
1) Get professionally sized by a jeweler
2) Request a ring sizer from me for free with your purchase of a ring (this will add a few days to your processing time)
3) You may use either of these resources for finding your size online:

Resizing fee: If you need your ring resized, I charge between $10 and $50, depending on the difficulty of the resize, and the buyer must pay shipping charges. In cases where I can't resize a ring, I recommend a professional bench jeweler.
