... and I'm the owner of Mary Henry Handmade!

I'm a hard working mama of a precious little boy. I love to sew and craft. In need of a creative outlet, I started this business when I worked in corporate America! I now work for myself full time as an Interior Designer, a stay-at-home mom and the manager of this business.

My two products, scarves and lapel pins, are a result of many years of making a variety of handmade goods.
These two products have been my top selling items, and I've sold thousands of scarves since 2012! After becoming a mom, I decided to limit my product offerings to just these products and it was the best decision ever!

About the Infinity Ruffle Scarf: The scarves are handmade by refugee women from Iraq who now live in Dallas, TX. When production became overwhelming, I turned to a group of people (refugees) who were in need of work and opportunity. Nweeda is a mom of 3 and has sewn a majority of my products. When we first met, she was new to the USA and spoke very broken English. Over the years, she took English classes and eventually graduated from Pharmacy tech school where she now works in a Pharmacy. A true dreamer and her accomplishments are impressive!

About the Flower Lapel Pins: I always wanted to find something to craft that was specifically for men. I love these lapel pins for so many reasons: the premium wool felt is high quality, the shape of the flower is very handsome, and the overall packaging is excellent. This project was a creative challenge for me - to create both the product and the packaging. I really love the end result!

I sell my products online at www.maryhenry.co and I also attend holiday markets in the fall, like Chi Omega Christmas in Fair Park, Dallas, Texas.

About ME: My name is April. I named my business "Mary Henry" after my grandparents' first names. My grandmother, Mary, taught me a simple sewing stitch when I was 12. I have been sewing non-stop ever since. I got a degree from Baylor University in Interior Design and business. I've been practicing Interior Design ever since; however, sewing and crafting has always been a hobby. I sold items here and there, but started really producing / selling in 2012. Since 2012, I've sold thousands of scarves and have donated hundreds to non-profit organizations. I currently live in East Dallas, with my sweet son who is my pride and joy. I work hard for him and hope that he catches the family entrepreneurial spirit that's been passed down from generations before me.
