From nut cups to trims...

Many years back now, I picked up some crepe paper and decided to try ruffling it with my sewing machine. It was very near Valentine's Day and I thought I would trim a little box for our daughter. After dyeing the paper and finishing the box, I began to create little nut cups such as we would receive at birthday parties as little children. I made a few, but they were a bit too bright for my romantic sensibilities so I began experimenting with anything I could lay hands on in the form of trims - dyeing, bleaching, crumpling, disassembling and reassembling, until I had supplies that looked a bit more shabby and worn. Of course, that left me with a surplus I needed to sell..... everything went into the Etsy shop, and I began to see customers stream in.

With my first commission to make a hatband using the shop's handmade flowers, I needed to augment to fill the band, so ordered in millinery leaves and flowers, adding them to the mix. Soon came laces, appliques, bridal trims, veiling.... the little business opened with the intention to sell nut cups took off, becoming a full scale supply shop.

Before long, the house was bursting at the seams with laces and trims, and the entire family welcomed the chance to move to a location from where the orders could ship. In time, we outgrew that location and had to seek out another, having closed down the brick and mortar aspect of the business years before.

Since we value customer service so highly, we have committed to accurately list our products so you can be assured of receiving what is advertised. We DO NOT list anything as vintage that is not, nor do we falsify where a product was manufactured. In this we can be trusted.

My day job is Mary, not Martha, and usually work from home while our wonderful, competent staff of dear friends run the shop; we could never do without them, and I am so very grateful to be surrounded by those who are our family in Christ.

It is a joy to be part of the Etsy community and though I am continually pressed to start up a website, Etsy is home. Welcome to our small room in that larger community, and we hope you sense the love that compels us to serve your needs.

Because we are in the USA, shipping times are much shorter than ordering from overseas.

PLEASE NOTE - SINCE WE HAVE BEGUN TO OFFER FREE SHIPPING ON ORDERS $35 AND ABOVE, WE CANNOT ACCEPT RETURNS FROM THOSE ORDERS WITHOUT A SURCHARGE ON THE SHIPPING. We're just a small business, not Amazon, please consider this when ordering.

1. Please contact us first with the reason you wish to return your items to obtain authorization and address to return.
2. Items must be returned postmarked within 14 days of receipt.
3. They must be in the same condition as when shipped.
4. They must be returned via USPS or UPS, insured for their full value.
5. They must be shipped in a waterproof, strong bubble-type envelope, wrapped as they were received, or in a box if they arrived in one.
6. Restocking fee applies.... see below:

20% restocking fees on all items returned, items returned on orders that were not charged shipping will incur an additional fee, to be determined by amount returned.
NO RETURNS ON CUT YARDAGE OR F SERIES APPLIQUES.

7. Any return shipping fees, including insurance, are the sole responsibility of the buyer.
RETURNED ITEMS THAT BRING YOUR ORIGINAL ORDER BELOW THE $35 MINIMUM FOR FREE SHIPPING WILL BE SURCHARGED $5 IN ADDITION TO RESTOCKING FEES.

8. Your original purchase price only (not shipping charges) will be refunded or a shop credit issued upon receipt, whichever is more acceptable to you.

Exchanges are fine under the same conditions; you are responsible for paying the shipping charges to return as well as to reship the exchange. In most cases we can waive the restocking charges...

Default shipping method is USPS First Class mail on all orders.

Orders ship within 1 to 3 business days, unless extenuating circumstances are involved. We have no postal service at our location, so do postal runs on MONDAY, WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAY EVENINGS ONLY. SAME DAY SHIPPING NOT ALWAYS AVAILABLE, and never on Thursdays, Saturdays, or Sundays. CUTOFF TIMES TO SHIP SAME DAY ARE PRIOR TO 9:00 A.M. PACIFIC TIME, MONDAY, WEDNESDAY & FRIDAY ONLY.

We do offer upgrades to Priority or Express mail, available through their respective listings. These upgrades are for the US ONLY, International customers please contact us. Whatever will fit in a flat rate padded mailer can ship at this rate - larger orders please contact us for a specific upgrade listing.

Upgrade to DHL available for INTERNATIONAL ORDERS ONLY, VERY fast, usually less expensive than Express mail and trackable! Contact us for a quote with your full information - name, address, country and postal code plus phone number- most markets receive within 2-3 days after shipping, Canada can be 1-2 days! Only available on Mon, Wed, and Fridays. Orders must be completed, upgrades paid, and with all information early a.m. - may not be able to ship same day.

If you should not receive your package in what you believe to be a timely manner, please contact us as soon as possible. We strive to answer ALL questions within several hours.

Excess shipping related charges refunded after shipping. Included in shipping charges are all packaging and printed materials, and FULL INSURANCE.

PLEASE do NOT try to contact us via email.... instead, use Etsy's internal message system.

IF your order is lost in transit, we have insurance. Please contact us to proceed with a claim if your order is not received. You will need to digitally sign an affidavit swearing you did not receive your package.

We ship from our stockroom location in Pasadena, California. If you're in the area, contact us to obtain hours! The days and hours are very limited but if you want to come by to pick up your order we can usually arrange it. We are not set up for customers to come in to the stockroom to shop, unfortunately.

Items listed as "Old Stock - these are new items from a supplier's older inventory, so some are vintage. As we cannot be certain in which decade they originated, they will simply be described as such.

Items listed as "Vintage" are generally older than 20 or 30 years, sometimes from the mid century as in the case of some millinery leaves and flowers.... unless indicated otherwise, they may show a bit of aging, some fading or a bit of folding here and there. Please be aware of this when ordering, as we do not accept returns for condition that is typical of a vintage item.
