On Etsy since 2015

I make beautiful original handmade artworks, and ship them to you at low prices!

I am Matthew Lyles Hornbostel, age 33, an indie artist in Pennsylvania, made Eagle Scout years ago, became a college grad with 3.67 GPA, wildly prolific creative person, visual effects artist, video director, indie game developer, entrepreneur, and maker of numerous creative projects across the Triumphant Artists Web Network, which includes nearly a dozen websites I have made, often coding elements by hand (like TriumphantArtists.com, HornbostelProductions.com, MiniatureMultiverse.com, HornbostelVideos.com...) and shops on Etsy (handmade pre-designed art), eBay (380+ positive ratings, seller mtthornb, made to order personalized art and unique content on DVDs) and matthornb.itch.io, where I am posting indie games and also a ton of stock media for digital artists/VFX artists/3d artists. Much of which is deeply discounted from time to time.

My aim across all of that is to make great creative content, special items not found anywhere else, that are all absurdly good value with low pricing, in hopes of generating an audience large enough to make up for the low profit per sale.

This said, due to exploits by a few visitors lately and the lack of a financial buffer in the event of multiple problematic orders at the same time, I have opted to discontinue the 'price dropping' structure seen recently and have set every item to a fixed price based on size. The prices are still low but there is no longer any unintended incentive to wait with an item in your cart before buying. This has increased prices somewhat generally but does ensure that this shop will be viable long term and won't face crisis if things go wrong again at some point. I have had issues with eBay and Etsy shipments in the past month and have had some difficulty stabilizing things in Feb. 2020 as a result. Many of my own domains are down temporarily and I am working many late night hours on end doing $2/hr gigs on mTurk - that is how bad it is getting and how much I am sacrificing to fix this. I still offer full refunds If the buyer can show me with a photo that the item was indeed damaged during shipping or is otherwise able to demonstrate the item was misdelivered and didn't reach them. I don't require a return shipment for refunds but in future will require evidence. Some of the buyers on eBay and Etsy legitimately do have damaged items in transit but there are also lots of scammers, especially on eBay, which is why this policy is now in effect. I am raising prices such that these types of refund incidents, regardless of legitimacy, won't derail my online shops and so I can make close to $2/hr from my work [and] have hope of scaling things up as time passes, and choosing better shipping materials in the future. I was convinced to do this not by my own needs but by the customers on eBay who saw their items delayed badly due simply to a few [other] refunded orders across multiple storefronts at the same time. Orders which I lost money on and which I'm still struggling and working hard to bounce back from. I am trying to build up policies and pricing standards so that future incidents of that nature will not derail things for those customers who are genuine and decent.

I will also point out that handling fees are now gone, shipping fees remain calculated based on USPS data, and any order totalling $35 or more gets free shipping. I am sorry if anything has gone wrong but will as usual do whatever I am able to resolve the problems even if that takes a while.

Also, do take note of the fact that twice each year it is likely most of the art I make here will be put on sale locally in a small two-home Cranberry, PA yard sale (on Queenswood Drive). Usually that is roughly around October and April, so some items might suddenly vanish from this shop at about those points in mid Spring, mid Fall, and there will be advance notice on my blog and on my Pinterest boards, social media feeds, etc, about a week before this, every time.

Don't ask for restocking, these items are hand painted and even if you request a replica of a past work using a personalized listing on eBay, know that it will not be completely identical to the prior item for that reason. Once an original artwork at a bargain price here is gone it is gone. And I won't disclose any buyer's contact info, to other customers out of respect for the buyer's privacy.

I hope you find something here that you love and that you are happy enough with my work that you rate it. Every rating and review is greatly appreciated as this shop is still only in its small early phases of development and growth. Much more will be available here in the coming months.

Thanks for visiting, please feel free to look around and browse any listings you find appealing!
