Announcement   At Maude Albo, we love handmade, one-of-a-kind, recycled textiles, especially Kanthas. Ours are made in Jaipur, a historical city and capital of Rajasthan, India. Local seamstresses use vintage sari and worn layered fabrics to create quilts. The remnants are conjoined using a century's old sewing technique known as Kantha, creating what they call a "story". They're imperfect, raw, earthy, and colorful. Every quilt is beautifully unique and reversible. By integrating old world techniques and modern artisans, the textiles breathe new life while addressing sustainability. The colours and patterns are carefully chosen and may convey casual luxury or vintage whimsy. We hope you love them as much as we do! Here's to us becoming a part of your story and you to ours.

About

Kantha quilt curtain panels, made in India, retooled in L.A., reversible and all one of a kind.

Like so many of my favorite moments, it started in a dressing room, a Free People dressing room. I always wanted to buy the curtains more than anything I was trying on (which is really saying something). It turns out they don't sell them. Since "necessity is the mother of invention" (and I needed these curtains), I decided to make my own. I went straight to the source in India and found just what I was looking for. I hung some panels in the nursery and my friends went nuts. This all coincided with me having a baby girl and wanting to work from home. I needed a creative outlet and I wanted to work for myself. Thus, Maude Albo was born.
