About

Jewelry for a good cause - Education for disadvantaged children in Ghana

Welcome to Mawuvio's Outreach Programme!

Mawuvio's in Ewe means "God's Children". Here at MOP we educate and care for all disadvantaged children that are orphans or are coming from poor families in Ghana, who have no one else. Children that can not afford to pay the school fees for public schools receive free education at MOP.

Mawuvio's Outreach Programme, a non-governmental organization, was co-founded by Eric Kwame Agoe and Renee Farwell in August 2009 in Ghana. They have devoted themselves to improving the lives of orphaned and disadvantaged children and established a school where disadvantaged children can enjoy schooling for free. Currently the classes are still being held outside in a porch and courtyard owned by Agoe's family. The classrooms are located under corrugated sheet roofs, on a porch and under a tent roof, but MOP started building a proper school building within the last few years with the help of donations and by selling jewelry on Etsy.com. The new school building will be a permanent home for our organization that will educate and house hundreds of children in need.

After classes traditional Ghanaian glass beads are crafted into bracelets and earrings by the children and staff of Mawuvio's Outreach Programme. By teaching the children the art of beadmaking the children learn more about their culture as well as to be self-sustaining in playing a role in the creation of their new home. All proceeds from jewelry sales will go to 100% towards building a school and orphanage for Mawuvio's Outreach Programme, providing free education and care for the orphaned and disadvantaged children living in Ghana.
