Lovely quality, very happy with the product. The colours are a little duller than the pictures suggest (probably due to the flash), creating a more rustic look. I paired them with purple napkins from John Lewis and it looks lovely!

About

ADMAT - Supporting Traditions and Families at Lake Atitlan, Guatemala

We are ADMAT, the Asociacion de Mujeres Artisanas Tz'u'tujil (or, in English, the Association of Tz'utujil (Mayan) Women Artisans), a cooperative of women weavers from San Juan La Laguna, Guatemala.

We are dedicated to improving the lives of the 20+ families that participate in our cooperative. Weaving in the traditional method is a crucial part of our daily lives, and allows us to earn income while we take care of our children. Your purchase helps us buy nutritious food for our families, send our kids to school, and contribute to the local economy. So not only will you look good in your new item, you'll feel good knowing you are making a difference!

We are happy to be working with GlobeWright, an organization that works with Diego's Chocolate, also at Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. You can check that shop out at www.etsy.com/shop/diegoschocolate

I'm the manager of ADMAT, our women weavers' cooperative. I also design items, hand-dye with natural plants, weave using a backstrap loom, sew, and teach these skills to others.

I am Maria Gloria's mother and taught her how to weave using the backstrap loom and dye yarn using local plants. I have been weaving my whole life and specialize in "Jaspe" dyeing which yields the pretty patterns you see on the scarves.

In this photo you can see me holding the plant CHILCA, one of the plants which we use to dye our yarn. We use the leaves to get a nice green color and the flowers for yellow. I am a proud mother and weaver! Thank you for visiting our Etsy store.
