Meg was so lovely to work with on this custom ornament. She was clear in her process of designing a custom ornament and truly brought to life what I had envisioned for this piece. In truth, it is so much better than I could have imagined. The ornament is of high quality- strong without being bulky. I highly recommend creating a custom ornament with Meg!

Capturing the beauty of the West in every piece!

Hi there! My name is Meg Muldoon, and I’m the artist behind Painted Desert. I create hand-painted ornaments and artwork from my home here in the beautiful High Desert of Central Oregon. My work is inspired by Western vistas -- deserts, mountains, and canyons. When at all possible, I try to use reclaimed items as the backdrops for my pieces including scrap wood and reclaimed tiles.

ABOUT MEG'S ART PROCESS:

I use a combination of acrylic and water soluble crayons to create the vivid colors of my work, then for most pieces, I will add a layer of resin to seal the artwork. The resin finish deepens colors and provides unparalleled shine, though can be a painstaking process that often requires several sessions. The resin must be mixed, applied with a deft hand, and then dried for 72 hours. Though time-consuming and laborious, the resin process gives each piece its full realization and brings it to life. These pieces end up being magical and each one is truly one-of-a-kind!
