About

The Creation of Jewelry by Meghan

Jewelry by Meghan has spent a lot of years in the making. I've been making jewelry since I was twelve, when my grandmother taught me how to string a necklace. She loved my necklace so much that she had me make another one for her to sell at a craft show- a week later, I had twenty bucks in my pocket and was the happiest pre-teen around. Needless to say, I was hooked by the process of making jewelry after that. While I may have made my first sale at age twelve, it would be years before I started selling my jewelry for myself.

I made jewelry for myself, my family and my friends until I was a sophomore in high school. The summer before my sophomore year, my grandmother lost her battle with cancer. Making jewelry had been something we had always done together, and for about a year, it was just too painful for me to do without her.

About a year after she passed away, I took the plunge and started making jewelry again- my grandmother was an artist, and I know she would have wanted me to keep on creating. I began to sell some of my pieces to friends and family, and set up an account here on etsy to scope out the possibility of trying to sell my pieces online. Finally, I decided that I wanted to start selling my jewelry on a slightly larger scale.

I talked to my grandfather, who had been in charge of scheduling all of my grandmother's craft shows, and we chose a few shows to test the waters with. At the same time, I decided to finally start listing items in my etsy store, which had been waiting patiently for me to fill it with my pieces for years.

Honestly, there isn't much else to our story than that. My family and my friends are really important, and their support means the world to me. I draw so much of my inspiration from them, and everything we do together. While that may be the end of the story so far, I know Jewelry by Meghan will be adding more chapters to its book soon.

All of my items come from a pet friendly home; we have one cat, though he isn't allowed to help with any of the making or shipping processes- his little paws just aren't made for jewelry making!
