As a young woman with heavy, unpredictable periods, I found I was spending more money on disposable pads and tampons than my budget could really afford - even with coupons. My best friend stumbled across sea sponge tampons and sent me a link to check them out. After a few days of researching alternative options, I came across an article about menstrual cups and we both decided to give them a go. I was hoping they would cut back on the cost of having a uterus and thought "what's the worst that could happen?"...
A few months after switching to menstrual cups, and finding the transition liberating, I learned about cloth pads and decided to try them as well.
I fell in love with how easy reusables made my periods and loved that I didn't have to worry about dryness, discomfort, odors or going to the store to buy tampons and pads every month. My periods were no longer a time of resentment and disappointment but just another day that was no big deal to get through.
Fast forward to 2016 - I taught myself how to sew and decided to give sewing my own cloth pads a try. I sewed for family and friends who ended up loving their new pads and encouraged me to offer pads for sale... and Meira Cloth was born!
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for choosing Meira Cloth to be a part of your monthly routine. I am always here to answer questions about what may work for you, where to start or work out a custom order so you have the best pads for your unique flow ❤

5 out of 5 starsI can’t speak highly enough of AJ. She was so helpful in figuring out the best patterns and answered all my questions (there were many lol) promptly and with more detail that she needed to (but I appreciated!). I asked for different placements of fabrics and she was very obliging! My absolute favorite is the Always pad! The placement on it is stunning! I already have my (long) list of pads ready that I will be purchasing from her again!

Care instructions
There are many washing routines out there and results vary - Here is mine:
~Wash pads every 3-4 days during your period
~Fold soiled pad and place in a wet bag that allows for proper air flow (ie do not zip completely)
~Fill a bucket with cold water and a small amount of OxyClean or Molly's Suds Oxygen Whitener. Add soiled pads and soak for several hours or over night.
~Drain water and rinse pads thoroughly. Stain treat with Molly's Suds Stain Spray, Ecover or FelsNaptha as needed.
~Wash on cold/warm with your regular detergent excluding any bleach or fabric softeners. Molly's Suds Super Powder, Persil and Tide Original work well.
~Dry on low or hang to air dry ensuring that they are completely dry before storing.
How are my items packaged?
Every package is shipped in a discreet poly mailer without windows. The return address will not reference cloth pads - International customs forms will be labeled with materials used.
In order to reduce unnecessary waste, I do not include packing lists in orders unless they are specifically requested.
Meira Cloth is a smoke free, pet friendly home with cats and dogs who respect the boundaries of a sewing room and do not come into contact with any of the materials used in our products.
How do you prewash?
All fabrics are pre-washed using Molly's Suds Unscented Super Powder and hot water. This wash removes any impurities the fabric encountered on its way to us and allows the fabric to shrink before sewing it up.
We never use fabric softeners on any of our fabrics which can decrease the absorbency of pads.
Biodegradable, vegetable based starch and washable markers are used in the sewing process.
Once you receive your pads, we recommend washing them with like colors in a warm or hot cycle before use.
Custom and personalized orders
We offer a range of fabrics and each individual listing will include what fabrics were used for that specific pad. We are happy to discuss custom combinations if you have specific preferences. Custom orders have a 2-3 week turnaround time.
We currently offer:
Cotton Woven, Cotton Knit, Bamboo Knit, Bamboo Sherpa, Organic Bamboo Velour and Organic Cotton Velour as topping fabric (against the skin)
Super Heavy Organic Bamboo Fleece (SHOBF), Bamboo Hemp Fleece, French Terry and Diaper Flannel as cores (main absorbent fabric hidden in the center of the pad)
Windpro Fleece, Anti-pill Fleece, Cotton Sherpa Fused to PUL and PUL as backing fabric (against the underwear. Windpro is my favorite and most commonly used backer)
Can I return or exchange a pad?
Due to the nature of the items we sell, most exchanges and returns are not accepted.
If a flaw is due to construction, please message me before washing or wearing the item and we will work out a solution. Photos will be required of the flaws noted.
In the event of an exchange or a refund being accepted, all items being exchanged or returned must be received back to MeiraCloth in unwashed, unworn condition before replacements will be sent or a refund will be processed.
Do you combine orders?
Orders placed separately are not combined for shipping. Each order receives its own tracking number.
If you have a special request for shipping, please message me before placing multiple orders to discuss.
Do you refund shipping overages?
Any shipping overages that are $1 or more are refunded. Etsy uses the weight of items ordered to calculate shipping based on current USPS rates but sometimes the estimates are off due to rounding. Overages will be refunded when the order is shipped.
