Fragments of Memory to Feather Your Nest

When I was a kid growing up in Seattle, I lived across the street from a little man-made pond. Much of my free time was spent playing around its edges - admiring the shimmering dragonflies, lazy snails and free range duck feathers that I would find there. I dreamed little girl dreams of riding horses across great expanses while eagles soared above me, but had to settle for my hand-me-down bicycle, city blocks and the inky crows that were constant companions in my neighborhood near the lake.

My father, who was one of the fore-runners of the green architecture movement, would accompany me to our bi-weekly Y-Indian Guide meetings, where we learned the lore and traditions of our adopted Haida tribe. Animals, birds, nature and story were woven together with invisible threads that still tie me to the Pacific Northwest with indelible habits of paying attention and forming mythic associations from what I find.

Despite living today in the middle of former East Berlin, I can't look out my window or walk down the street without acknowledging the natural forces all around me, following the same patterns of meaning that I learned as a child. These glimpses of animal urban wildlife remind me of our intrinsic connection with the great spirit - a source that remains a constant force flowing throughout everything, in defiance of the concrete construction sites, brash German billboards and bustling traffic outside my door.

Now I capture these magical moments in paper, ink, thread and photographs - bringing them to you like small offerings to be left at your doorstep by a devoted critter.

Hello and thank you for visiting The Department of Manufactured Memory.

I am thrilled at the opportunity to provide you with high quality, meaningful artwork and the possibility of helping to create some of your own positive memories; whether real, imagined, projected or dreamed. The work you find here is inspired by the shifting landscape of our own memories - blurred by the influences from media and the foggy, possibly implanted recollections we cling to as truth.

The Department of Manufactured Memory is the fine art division of a larger creative enterprise where I design identities for clients large and small. You can learn more by visiting my website:

Please read through the details mentioned below and should you have any further questions, I welcome your convo.

Prints of A3/11x14 or larger will be carefully wrapped and shipped in a sturdy mailing tube.

Please allow 3-5 business days for processing and shipping as, in most cases, photos and posters are printed as they are ordered.

Orders will be shipped by Deutsche Post with a signature required upon receipt of the package, unless requested otherwise by the customer. If you would like end to end tracking, please contact me for details about upgrading shipping.

International orders will be shipped via Deutsche Post or DHL International Paket, depending on the size of the package. A customs number will be provided upon shipment.

Shipping times will vary depending on how far you live from Berlin, Germany. In my experience small parcels take 7-14 days to reach sunny southern California, where my nephew Jackson eagerly awaits the next box full of strange German candy.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you are not completely satisfied with the print that you receive, please feel free to contact me within 5 days of receipt and I will be glad to provide a refund or exchange, provided you return the item(s) in the same condition they were sent in.

A note about colors: Because of differences in monitors, colors can not be guaranteed to look exactly as they appear on screen.
