A little HX

Designed with mental health in mind...@thesmallgroupidentity started as a resource for small groups and has become an access point for interventions & apparel. @thesmallgroupidentity is the parent company for MentalHealthTools, its Etsy shop name. The owner's dream is to have a one-stop shop for counselors to locate valuable tools that improve their clients' mental health. These tools can also benefit small group members, and customer's loved ones. As she continues to build her online shop, Nicki develops products inspired by her professional experiences in small group ministry, sales & marketing, and now trauma therapy.

MentalHealthTools exists to support fellow therapists, small group leaders, and community members. Striving to bring awareness to mental health issues and its stigma through our product offerings, our apparel line was designed with breaking the stigma and normalizing therapy in mind. The workbook offerings provide original, creative, interventions for integrating art therapy into sessions. Our office decor and intervention tools work to enhance therapist's sessions and workspaces.

The owner, Nicki Gaskins, began her creative content journey within small group ministry leadership when she started writing down her unique lesson plans, decades ago. After a long career in real estate sales, marketing, training and management, Nicki pursued a new calling by attending graduate school for counseling. In graduate school, Nicki found that her experiences with art, creativity and designing small group curriculum translated beautifully into therapeutic interventions. In 2018, Nicki spoke at her first conference and began selling her group curriculum workbooks.

Currently, Nicki works as a trauma counselor at a non-profit agency in South Carolina. She has Masters degrees in Education in Counseling and Development and School Counseling. She has also worked in Substance Abuse PHP, private practice, and as a full time School Counselor with many populations. She particularly loves adolescents and children and is very family systems oriented. She is a licensed Associate Counselor in South and North Carolina (LPCA and LCMHCA, respectively). Nicki speaks annually at the SCCA Convention, where she began selling her apparel this year. This Etsy shop is a dream come true for her and hopes her contributions to this marketplace will help many others.
