About

From a creative high school classroom career, to a creative retirement career.

In the early 1970's I designed and made knitted animals which I sold in exclusive Montreal boutiques. Forty years later, right after retiring from 34 years of teaching, I was contacted by an old customer who wondered if I could make another animal, this time for a grandchild. I did, and the same week heard about Etsy. Since joining, I have branched out and designed dolls, baby quilts, guitar straps and many puppets. The vast majority of my work is custom, and my greatest joy is derived from designing and creating a new request.

Since I am also an avid traveler, I have acquired a bounty of vintage items which I make available in my other Etsy shop, www.latrouvaille.etsy.com

I was taught to embroider, knit and crochet as a child. In university, I did a BSc. and then a degree in teaching, resulting in 34 years in the high school classroom. Etsy has replaced the opportunity for creativity I so missed after retirement.

Hello & welcome to my online boutique of serendipitous children's creations, guitar straps, handmade ladies' luxuries, and Christmas stockings. As a mother and a teacher, the development of imagination in children has always been a priority of mine and coming up with new designs is something I love to do.

My knitted stuffed animals are all original works of my invention, kind of like knitting a pair of socks or a sweater, but in the shape of an animal. These little critters are all labors of love which take hours and hours to make.

Fabric dolls are also of my design.

Baby Quilts: Will be made to order. The complexity and detail will determine the price.

There will be no refund for Custom orders. Make sure before ordering that your directions are very exact. A custom order always involves "design" time, for which you are not being charged.

Payment
Method of payment accepted: Paypal.

Payment should be made immediately following finalizing your etsy order by clicking on the "pay with paypal" button that will direct you to a paypal invoice.

If payment is not made - your transaction may be canceled if I do not receive a response to any messages sent within 24 hours. Likewise, your cancellations must be made within 12 hours.
Shipping
Though I live in Canada, I ship most orders via USPS. This is because it allows me to charge you much less (even for back to Canada!) for shipping and the time involved is always less. American orders over $15.00 will always have a tracking number. This service is not available for any other. If you want your parcel insured, you must pay for the added security. I will not be held responsible for packages lost in the mail.

Items are packed and shipped out within three to five days of payment received unless being made to order in which case I will have communicated with you in advance. The delay in mailing is because I cannot cross the border more than once a week without facing custom issues of my own. It is still MUCH faster than if I mailed from Canada. Please keep in mind that purchases will be shipped on weekdays only.
Orders to Canada and overseas take between 1-3 weeks to arrive. U.S. orders are usually within 1 week. On rare occasions however, shipment to Europe and Australia has taken as long as 8 weeks. Please be patient.

AT PERIODS OF THE YEAR WHEN SHIPPING VOLUME IS HIGH, i.e. FROM BLACK FRIDAY ON, please consult the shipping times posted on my main page. This is to avoid the disappointment of late arrival at, for example, Christmas.

Multiple item orders may take longer to ship as many items in my shop are made to order.

Please contact me prior to purchase if you have any questions regarding shipping.

You, as buyer, are responsible for any additional customs or duty charges where required.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you are unhappy with your order, refunds and exchanges are available under the conditions listed below.

-Custom orders will not be refunded. See above.
-Items must be returned within 20 days of receipt.
-Items must be returned in the same condition in which they were received.
-Shipping costs for returned items will not be refunded.
-Returned items are shipped at the Buyers expense.

Additional Policies and FAQs
Custom Orders are welcome as indicated above but are non refundable!
Additional policies and FAQs
Since all of my projects are quite labor intensive, hence time consuming to make, you may make a particular order. For example, in the case of the dolls, you may indicate a race, ethnicity, sex, a color scheme etc. In the case of a baby quilt, you can indicate general type, gender specific or non, color scheme, and other specifics.
