Things to keep in mind:
- Do not sleep in your piece. - Remove jewelry before bathing, swimming, washing hands, working out etc.
Do not expose to chemicals, which include soap, lotions, and perfume. The acidic nature of human sweat and other chemicals/oils on the skin, such as soaps, lotions and makeup, react with the copper. This reaction causes a green patina or surface coating to form on the copper, and that color gets transferred onto the skin. This staining can be easily rinsed off with soap and water and is harmless.
Tip: apply a thin layer of clear polish to the area that touches your skin to help prevent skin coloring.
You can use a polishing cloth/Sunshine cloth, it will remove patina, but will naturally patina over time.
What is the process of electroforming?
The copper jewelry is made using the process of electroforming which involves displacing copper ions from one source onto the jewelry itself in a bath of acid and electricity. Making each piece requires over 8 steps that I go through slowly over several days.
