Meet the Maker of Merchant 3114
Hi, I’m Amanda — the hands and heart behind Merchant 3114.
Crochet has been a part of my life for over 20 years. I first picked up a hook as a teenager, inspired by my grandmother who crocheted before me. Left-handed and determined, I taught myself from a book, and what started as a hobby quickly became a lifelong love. Over the years, I’ve experimented with just about everything you can imagine—textured yarns, ribbon, tulle, lace, and most recently, fine cotton threads.
But here’s the thing: I’ve never been your “average crocheter.” While many people picture cozy blankets and chunky scarves, I’ve always been drawn to intricate lace patterns, delicate designs, and the kind of detailed work that makes most crocheters say, “Oh, I could never do that!” That challenge excites me. I love taking tiny hooks and the thinnest threads and transforming them into something practical, beautiful, and full of meaning. What once was a lace doily might become a curtain tie-back, a tiny magnet, or even a pair of earrings.
My latest adventure has been creating miniature works of art—turning my magnet designs into earrings, and now designing a collection of I Love You (ILY) keychains in American Sign Language.
That’s because crochet isn’t the only thread in my story. Another huge part of who I am is my passion for the Deaf community and American Sign Language (ASL). I’m Hearing, but God placed a calling on my life to work with the Deaf. I went to college to study ASL, later became an educational interpreter, and today I’m blessed to attend and serve at a Deaf Church in Ringgold, GA. The Deaf culture and community have captured my heart, and I’ve found ways to weave this calling into my art.
Some of my most special creations are inspired by this passion—like my crocheted ILY magnets, earrings, and now keychains. To me, they aren’t just handmade accessories, they’re small reminders of love, faith, and connection.
Outside of crochet, I’m a bookworm, a graphic design enthusiast, and I love being creative in my church community. But no matter what I’m doing, my goal is the same: to use the gifts the Lord has given me to bring joy, beauty, and blessing into the lives of others. Every stitch I make is a reflection of that calling. To Him be the glory.
So whether you’re here looking for something meaningful to gift, a piece that adds beauty to your home, or just a little treasure that makes you smile—I’m so thankful you found my shop. Your support means more than words can say.
With gratitude and joy,
Amanda 💕
