¿Cómo empezó todo? Bueno, no siempre he sido acuarelista a pesar de ser artista. He bailado la mayor parte de mi vida, enfocándome en estilos de improvisación, y dibujado con lápiz ocasionalmente, tratando de recordar las lecciones de arte que tomé en la infancia.
Fue como un golpe repentino en 2013 cuando una amiga me invitó a acompañarla a un viaje en avión, después de mi descanso de 15 años en la pintura. Tomé pinturas de acuarela, ya que eran muy fáciles de llevar... y se enamoró. La forma en que el agua reaccionaba con la pintura y los efectos que producían juntos me hipnotizaron.
Y debo decir que sigue siendo un misterio para mí, ya que nunca puedo predecir cómo será exactamente el trabajo final. Es una magia pura del proceso de creación, en la que no eres un maestro sino un seguidor sensible.
La naturaleza me inspira mucho. La mayoría de mis acuarelas se hacen al aire libre, justo en un lugar, y llevan la energía del lugar y el día en que han sido creadas. Esta es una hermosa habilidad de un artista para transmitir no solo la imagen sino la esencia de lo que él o ella puede ver y sentir. Sentirlo, capturarlo y transferirlo a otros a través de una pintura.
How did it all start? Well, I have not always been a watercolorist despite being an artist. I have danced through the most of my life, focusing on improvisation styles, and drew with pencil occasionally, trying to recall art lessons I took in childhood.
It was like a sudden punch in 2013 when a friend invited me to accompany her to a plein air trip, after my 15-year break in painting. I took watercolour paints, since they were very easy to carry ... and fell in love. The way the water reacted with paint and the effects they produced together mesmerized me.
And I must say, it is still a mistery to me, as I never can predict how exactly the final work will look like. It is a pure magic of creation proccess, in which you are not a master but a sensitive follower.
Nature inspires me a lot. Most of my watercolours are done outdoors, right on a spot, and carry the energy of the place and the day they have been created. This is a beautiful ability of an artist to convey not only the image but the essence of what she or he can see and feel. To feel it, to capture, and transfer to others through a painting.
