The birth of Mermaid Monkey Designs

I started Mermaid Monkey Designs in 2012. I have always been bored with the run-of-the-mill party decorations that are sold at stores, and usually created my own items for showers and parties. I really enjoy creating different decorations and party themes.

Why Mermaid Monkey Designs? Well, my daughter's nickname is Monkey, and about a year ago she became enamored with mermaids. Her nickname evolved to Mermaid Monkey, and I decided to name my shop for her.

Hello! Thank you for visiting Mermaid Monkey Designs!

Part-time business. Orders are worked on in the evenings (Pacific Standard Time), Monday - Saturday. Proofs are sent in 2 BUSINESS DAYS (Monday-Saturday) via Etsy convo. There are no proofs without purchase.

Payment
Payments are accepted through credit card and PayPal. Proofs will not be sent until payment has been received.
Shipping
There are no shipping fees. All items in my shop sent through ETSY CONVO. Instant downloads are available in your Etsy account. No physical products will be mailed.

Proofs are sent 2 business days after purchase and receipt of all information (Sundays and holidays are not business days), between the hours of 7PM - 11PM Pacific Standard Time (west coast), via Etsy convo. Failure to provide the information will delay the creation of your proof. All revisions must be requested within 10 days.

If you do not receive your files within 48 hours of my e-mail notification that they have been sent, please send me a message, and I will resend.

Files are not sent through external email.

You will need Adobe Acrobat in order to open pdf files.
Refunds and Exchanges
I will only issue a refund if you send a request to cancel an order BEFORE a proof has been created and sent via Etsy convo. Other than that, there are NO REFUNDS due to the digital nature of the product. You are responsible for checking your proof and test printing.

Colors can vary between monitors and printed products due to a variety of factors that are beyond my control. Please review your proofs carefully and test print on your home printer. I will not issue a refund because you do not like the colors.

If you feel that your file was defective, you will need to submit proof of the defect (photos) within 10 days of the file being sent. Files that have been altered from their original form (i.e. edited in Microsoft Word) are not eligible for a defect refund.

Orders that are placed requesting design revisions that were not discussed prior to purchase or demanding the file be sent sooner than the quoted turnaround time stated in the listing, the order will be cancelled and a refund issued.
Additional policies and FAQs
You will need Adobe software for PDF files.

Printable invitations are offered in two formats: JPG or PDF. The JPG is for use at photo centers or attaching to an email. The PDF will have two invitations, in the selected size, on an 8.5"x11" sheet (letter size). Crop marks are provided for cutting down to size. I do not offer single PDF files with bleed and crop marks.

Under no circumstances will I sell the PSD file for any design, or send a blank design.

Files are to be accessed and saved using a computer. Files are not meant for saving on cell phones, as they compress the file to a smaller size not suitable for printing, or do not have the required software.

All communication is done through Etsy conversation only. This is for both buyer and seller protection. Files are only sent through Etsy conversation. This is how I manage all pending orders, revisions, etc. and it keeps your order information private. Since I do not have normal business hours and work out of my home, I am not available by phone.

All items are DIY printing. You are responsible for checking with the print shop or photo center for their process, price, and the type of file they need. If you are printing at home, you will need to know how to operate your printer. Please research and decide how you will print before placing your order. All items need to be printed on white paper.

Revisions to the original file must be requested within 10 days. After that time, there will be a $5 fee to revise and send a second file. After 30 days, you will need to repurchase the invitation.

Customer files are stored for 30 days. You will need to save and backup your file, After 30 days they are deleted.

Revisions do not include design element changes, or switching to an entirely different design. The invitations in my shop are premade templates that I have designed. Changes to graphics, backgrounds, fonts, etc. need to be discussed prior to purchase to see if they are doable and if an additional fee applies. Some listings include color customization with a color palette provided, but this does not mean that color customization is available on all designs.

All items are in English. I do not offer translation services, and many fonts do not have the alphabet/characters/etc. necessary for other languages. Plus, it is difficult for me to work with and edit text I do not understand.

All products contain copyrighted graphics. These products are for personal use only. You may not resell, redistribute, recreate, or use in your commercial projects or share these graphics or designs in whole or in part for any reasons.

Mermaid Monkey Designs reserves the right to refuse service for any reason. If a buyer is pushy, abusive or does not follow policy guidelines, the transaction will be cancelled.

Frequently asked questions

How will I receive my file?

It will be sent via Etsy convo along with instructions on how to save to your computer.

Files are not sent through external email or postal service. If you insist on having a file sent through external email, there will be a fee of $3.

When will I receive my file?

Orders are sent between the hours of 7PM - 11 PM pacific standard time (I am on the west coast). For standard processing, the turnaround time is 2 business days. For rush processing, it is 24 hours.

Standard processing schedule:
Monday orders - Wednesday night
Tuesday orders - Thursday night
Wednesday orders - Friday night
Thursday orders - Saturday night
Friday orders - Sunday night
Saturday orders - Monday night
Sunday orders - Tuesday night

Sizing details

Invitations are provided in two sizes: 4x6 and 5x7. If you need a different size, contact me BEFORE placing an order to see if a custom size is doable.

Please note that if you are printing through Costco, their photo invitation size is 6.5x7. Also, Vista Print has unique sizes as well.

Where do I give you the information for the invitation?

All details for your event (name, date, time, address, registry info, etc.) are to be typed into the "optional notes to seller" upon checkout.

Please do not send mockups or photos of handwritten notes. I need to be able to upload the information to my software in order to edit it properly.

Can I change the wording, colors, background, graphics, or fonts?

Wording changes are included. Any wording on the invitation can be changed to suit your event, but please be mindful of the design layout.

Changes to colors, backgrounds, graphics, and fonts are NOT included in the price. Please contact me BEFORE placing an order to see if the customizations are doable, and if there is an additional charge.

How long do I have to request revisions?

Revisions to your file must be requested within 10 days, as specified in the message that accompanies your file. After 10 days there will be a $5 fee.

Files are stored for 30 days. After 30 days you will need to repurchase.

What color paper should I print on?

All items are to be printed on white paper. The colors will not come out correctly if printed on colored paper, and any white elements of the design will not be white.

What type of file should I choose?

Make sure to double check with your printer regarding the file type they require. The information below is a general guideline, but requirements may vary by printer/location and there is no way for me to know that.

If you are printing through a photo center, or online printer, you will need the JPEG file (places such as Shutterfly, Rite Aid, etc.). If you are printing through a copy shop, or printing at home, the PDF.

The PDF is set up with 2 invitations on an 8.5x11 sheet, so it can be printed on letter size cardstock and cut down to size. You will need Adobe Reader to open a PDF.

Again, please double check with your printer before ordering. I cannot stress this enough.

Where can I buy cardstock? Where do I get envelopes?

Cardstock and envelopes can be purchased at office supply stores, craft stores, and online retailers. Many printers will offer envelopes as part of their invitation printing services.

Can I receive a proof before purchase?
