I sew different things and make quilts when I'm not fighting with my sewing machines.
First, I have to say, the very pretty banner and logo for my shop came from the talented Penny Parker. Here is her website - http://www.graphicsbypennyparker.com/linkware.html
Now, on to about me:
My sewing items and quilts are not made by a machine, but they are made by me WITH machines. I use a 1949 Singer Featherweight sewing machine named Arnold, sometimes a 1950’s Singer 401-A, occasionally a 1960’s Montgomery Wards machine, and a 1994 Kenmore 19000. I also own a Singer 99 treadle.
I rarely use a pattern for a whole quilt, although I do use block patterns. My quilts evolve, they are not planned, I play with color and cloth until I achieve the look in my mind. Sometimes it comes out pretty, other times, I make it into rags or animal bedding.
Because I am a human being, my quilts and other sewn items have little flaws, perhaps a crooked seam, a tuck here or there, a slightly off measurement, a different colored thread, and occasionally, a hand-sewn repair because I may have finished the item before noticing a flaw.
I wash all my quilts before sending them out, because I have animals and I don’t want anyone to have an allergic reaction. They are all tumble-dried with no fabric softener for the same reason. Washing quilts gives them a soft, crinkled, vintage look. If you want them to look crisp and unused, they can be ironed.
I love fabric, and I love creating with it. I hope you enjoy my works as much as I’ve enjoyed sewing and quilting them.
General instructions for quilts: Machine wash in a regular cycle with any water temperature, tumble or line dry. Iron on a cotton setting with steam.
