Welcome to our forest...

My name is Christopher Russell. I live in the Appalachian mountains with my wife Amanda and my sweet little princess Sophia. My wife and I have enjoyed and appreciated wood work since we were first married in 2002. We have created many things together, starting with scroll saw art and puzzles. We both enjoy the artistic side of wood working over the more practical applications.

We love making bentwood rings especially because we get to create something that is truly personal and unique for a customer. We admire the thought and creativity that our customers put into acquiring that perfect symbol of who they are or what thier relationship means. In a sea of copies and mass production, it is incredibly rewarding to create jewelry that goes far beyond simply looking nice. In the past couple years, we have also gained a love of working with unique metals, and combing different metals and woods together to make complicated and amazing rings. We are still learning and mastering new skills everyday, and hope to continue to grow in our craft for many years to come.

We had to think a while to come up with a name for our store. One day while I was in the shop working, blasting my music all through the house, my wife took a walk. The music was still fresh in her mind, and she told me that as she looked at the forest around her that name just came to mind. "Metal Forest" does not merely represent the materials we use, but the place we call home and the music that fills it.

We create all rings handmade, using raw materials, from start to finish. We are a 100% made in America family business. We also support our fellow artisans by purchasing materials from other Etsy vendors as often as possible.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalized orders

Custom rings or rings that have been engraved are much more difficult if not impossible for us to resale. In the event that a new ring needs to be made (through no fault of our own), buyer will be charged a minimum of 50% the original cost for the remake of the new custom ring to cover engraving & material expenses. In the event that the cost of materials/engravings exceeds 50% of the original cost, we will charge a fee proportionate to the cost of materials. These situations would normally only occur if an expensive raw material such as gold has been used to create a ring. A buyer may purchase one additional ring at the 50% discounted remake charge. (11/13/18)

Sizing details

Have a jeweler size you and try on additional rings. Do not use the size of an old ring, or estimate your ring size.

In the event of a sizing error on the part of the customer of less then 1/2 size, we will resize the ring free of charge one time.

In the event of a sizing error on the part of the customer where the ring is more then 1/2 size off; the ring will have to be remade. One new ring can be repurchased once for 50% the original cost.

In the event that we are at fault for the ring being the wrong size, we will remake the ring for free. In this event you must return the original ring to us.

Remake fees will be proportionate to the cost of making the ring. Some rings may require a larger remake fee due to material cost.

Care instructions

Bentwood rings are as durable as a wood ring can possibly be, however they are still wood and still made of organic materials. Bentwood rings are water resistant but like anything, will look nicer longer if they are treated with care. Some chemical agents are particularly hard on wooden rings. Pool water (chlorine, bleach), paint thinner, nail polish remover and other cleaning products should be avoided.
We offer free refinish/repair on wooden rings. If a wooden ring is beyond repair, you may purchase another at 50% the price. We do not replace metal cores. Metal cores must be returned for repair. If a metal core is damaged beyond repair, a new ring will need to be purchased entirely (11/13/18).
