Just love these cranes! Have 4 of these and 4 of the Oakland version which look fantastic in my container port and general purpose port respectively. Great price, so easy to build, how can you go wrong?

Thanks for your review, Tony! Glad you're enjoying the model Crane kits. Sounds like a nice model setup you have. thanks

This is the second time I have purchased this product. It has been my Go-To Going-Away gift for friends who have lived a long time in The City. It has been well-received each time! Great quality and clean manufacturing. At some point, I am going to purchase one for myself.

Well worth the 40 bucks. This work of art looks elegant, classy and it’s easy to build. Being a native to SF and East Bay (Oakland), I bought the Oakland Crane set shortly after putting this one together. I highly recommend buying one or some for your home or office. No need to paint or stain it, it’s fine the way it comes. If you do paint it, I suggest not using a high shinny gloss. It’ll look like a cheap plastic kit after that and ruin its original look. When I decide to buy another tower, I will hit it with an air brush with faded colors to mimic the wear and tear from Karl (SF fog).

Speedy delivery. Good communication. Assembly instructions are a little vague but everything needed was included. Overall it was simple enough and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! I’m even thinking about ordering a second one…

Here is a one on one interview with me on Tested.com.
Architect-turned-artist Larry Srinivasan (b.1970) studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, and the ETH-Zurich. He has worked in architecture firms in the US, Switzerland, and Germany, helping design the WWII Memorial winning competition entry with Friedrich St.Florian, and working with Rafael Vinoly Architects in New York city.
After working many years in Architecture firms, I found the most enjoyable part for me was to build the models, so I eventually became a professional model maker. Modelmaking is very multi facted and draws on an exciting range of skills and materials. From state of the art CNC milling, lasercutting and 3D printing, to traditional hand fabrication methods. A model maker is in a way a very hi-tech fabricator, given the many prototyping tools currently available.
I decided to start my own business in 2010, making my first product: a lasercut wood model kit of Sutro Tower in San Francisco. It did well in local retail stores, and so the series expanded to include other Iconic Bay-Area structures: the Golden Gate Bridge, Oakland Crane, TransAmerica Pyramid and others. This series has become a popular favorite at the SFMOMA store, and other museum stores!
In designing this series, I really wanted to capture the accuracy and beauty of these structures. These are not mere tourist replicas!... Each model is developed from original engineering drawings. And they are designed to capture the original design both in spirit and in detail. We also try to design the kit-building experience to be memorable and fun."
My Studio is located in the Mission district of SF, and I'm a member of a fantastic local makerspace: HumanMade, with access to a great community, shared equipment, and space.
